  1. Hello, When I make an object a 2D symbol, the hatch I have it filled with is not visible unless I am editing the symbol. When I click out of the edit mode, the hatch reads as a white fill. What is happening here? It just started doing it. I have VW 2018. Thanks, Brittany
  2. Hi, I'm setting up an office standard using Standard Naming. The reason I am choosing to use this as opposed to using a template file with common classes and resources is that I want to bring old project files up to date with my new standard. I also anticipate tweaking the standard and like being able to force any changes across multiple projects. I have edited the ClassNameStds worksheet to add new names and I'm editing the attributes in the Standard Naming Dialog. So far so good. The attributes I can set in Standard Naming are Line, Line Weight, Line type. Fill can be set to only None, Fill, and Pattern but not Hatch. Since I do use hatches, I could apply the standard, and then manually add hatches to certain classes. If I apply the Standard again though, it wipes out the hatches I have set. It does this regardless of whether I tick the 'Use at creation' box. Is there a way to use Standard Naming and still have hatches applied to some classes? Thanks!
  3. I would be a big time saver if it was possible to get the names of the object attributes in a data tag. A - The names of the fill styles: solid > color name hatch > hatch name pattern > pattern name and foreground and background color names tile > tile name gradient > gradient name image > image name when the fill style is set by class then then specified name in the class fill style B - The names of the pen styles: solid > color name pattern > pattern name and foreground and background color names line type > name of line type and name of color when the pen style is set by class then then specified name in the class pen style C - The line thickness D -The number of the marker Usercases: part B of this discussion: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/79632-renderworks-textures-in-worksheet-name-of-color-in-a-data-tag/#comment-379286
  4. Good morning all, I having a few issues with the tile file. Managed to create my own tile within the resource manager and apply them to a simple object. The first issue is once it is applied, the fill seems to flicker, fade, disappear o only partly show when I zoom in and out of the drawing, both in design layer and sheet layer. Second issue is that when I publish the sheet, the tile fill only partly shows on the PDF (see image attached, you can see the tile file on the left elevation but not on the right section). I have tried rasterizing and lowering the DPI count the PDF when publishing and changing the VWs settings the best compatibility. Im using VW 2018 Architecture, Windows 10 pro 64 bit on a HP 250 G6 Notebook PC. Thank you 209.010-Proposed Bathroom Specification -Princes Sq. .pdf
  5. I've imported a PDF. it is 11.6 MB. 4 pages, but I'm only taking in 3 of them. I've un-grouped the PDF. I've deleted the bitmap and a number of rouge rectangles. I also found that AFTER i've un-grouped the PDF, i'm left with an additional, 'hidden' group inside that group. I double click that group, and enter the group edit window. There, I have to manually pull the additional 'layers' from the PDF out to get to the line bits. Then I exit the group edit window and I have my layer of lines. in fact, I'm left with a really nice bunch of lines and polygons. About 700,000 polygons. I run a 'Compose' command on a bunch of them and that drops the number by almost 100,000. I'm still left with a bunch of polygons that have a fill associated with them. I need that fill gone. I've tried several things here, but the result is the same - It takes forever. If I do a custom select, and only select polygons that have a fill associated with them, I get a more manageable number of like 58,744 polygons. I move to the format pallet and choose the 'no fill' option. I get a beachball spinning for a long time, and the fill state never changes, and I have to apple+option+delete out of Vectorworks. By a long time, I mean hours on hours. If I do a smaller selection (like 15 - 20 polygons by tedious hand selection), or marquee select small sections of the drawing, I can change the fill state and it only takes minutes. Like 10 - 15 minutes. Still, to me, that seems like a really long time. My questions are this: Am I asking too much of the software? Is this 'expected' behavior in real world applications? Is there a better way to remove fills from polygons on a drawing? Is there a good way to 'pre-prep' a PDF for import? This PDF has no layers, and isn't that big. Working on my import PDF - turn it into a model workflow. So far, it's great. Except the underwhelming speed of the fill removal. The 'breaking apart' of the PDF takes a little bit of time, but not nearly the time that the fill removal does. Not by a long shot. Repro steps - Set up new drawing File-import PDF. highlight PDF. Apple+U to un-group Delete the rectangle and the bitmap so I'm left with just a singe 'group' item. Double click that group item. Enter the group editor. delete the various rectangles that represent the 'pages' or white space in the PDF. Exit editor. you're left with several 'blobs' or groups of PDF parts. In my case, I imported 3 PDF pages. Now I have three big groups of lines and Polys. Click the group of lines and Polys. Apple+A (yes, you are doing this a second time). Now you have a bunch of lines and poly's on your layer. Custom select: type = Polygon Fill = (solid black box in my case) Check OIP, verify there are like 60,000 polys selected now. click format pallet. on fill pull-down, select 'No Fill'. leave the office an literally come back in the morning. Might be done.
  6. When I set the border to filled (white fill) then it falls underneath the inner border line but it covers the outer border line so that it appears thinner or not at all in the published PDF. VWX and PDF attached. Is there a way to force the fill to be under the outer border line as well or is this a bug? I sometimes need filled borders to hide content that is extending underneath the border when the viewport is the same size as the border (as this is sometimes easier to move the viewport a little if something is at the edge at a certain scale and gets covered by the drawing border) Border fill.vwx Border fill.pdf
  7. Hi all, Having display problems in plan view. I have hybrid symbols that are displaying as translucent objects when both their class and layer have been set to visible. The objects are selectable, but they display as if having 50% opacity even though opacity is set at full. The symbols have nested classes within, and these nested classes have also been set to visible. When I pan or zoom, the objects appear normal momentarily, then gets set back to the weird translucent state. When I copy these objects to a new file, they appear normally, so it would seem it might be something wrong with my current file settings. I have attached part of the file as a reference for troubleshooting. Any ideas folks? Gabriel Vectorworks 2017 Spotlight GWS LX plot 220417.vwxGWS LX plot 220417.vwx GWS_LX_plot_220417.vwx
