  1. Again, anyone? Is there a way of controlling the looks of the DTM so that it does not show "hollow" in Section Viewports? I would like it to show a filled hatch similar to what you can get with Advanced Properties>Attributes>Section Plane. It's most of the time very confusing to show what happens below grade. It feels like looking under some ugly lady's skirt, if you can find it in you to pardon the expression...
  2. "The door PIO calls this Config. The window PIO calls this Sash Operation." Kevin: Nothing to do with VW 11 or 12. My mental translation of terms seems to have been less than clear. We don't use casement, double hung windows, etc. over here, this being a hot and humid climate. We draw the window or door elevations and assign it a name like Type 1, Type 2, etc., which may not be the same "type" as VW's casement, double hung, etc. In VW 11 I was able to add a "field' or whatever to the window and door Data section of the Object Info palette. I was then able to enter the Type 1, etc. info at the same time as I was entering the make or model or other Data info. Thanks for the concern. [ 12-03-2005, 08:27 PM: Message edited by: Ramon PG ]
  3. Excellent!! And, (I promise to read topic 100) is there a way to make this standard for all future projects?
  4. quote: Originally posted by Robert Anderson: What does your "type" field encompass? Could you for example use the standard "notes" datafield? You lost me there... The "type" is just the elevation of the item in the Door and Windows Elevations sheet. It would be manually entered. In VW 11 I created it but now I can't recall how to do it. Not sure what the "standard 'notes' datafield" is, but I would like to be able to insert all the info from a single place if possible.
  5. I'm sure there must be a way. Anyone? Thanks
  6. md: You can create sloped pads or intermediate level (non-sloped) pads to "terrace" the terrain if you want a smoother look. Takes just a bit of time to master.
  7. Curioser and Curioser At the risk of this appearing as my own personal blog... If you have the huge border bug: Select the huge-bordered window and go to Obj Info>Settings>View>Line Weights and select 00 line weight for Trim nothing seems to happen. But, when you go back to the drawing the huge border has DISAPPEARED!!! And it then it all becomes curioser because if you select Hidden Line rendering the Trim to you which you gave the 00 weight still shows in the elevation/section!!!! Curioser and curioser... but, at least no huge border. PS: ALSO, GOOD NEWS: Seems like the huge borders do not appear in new documents even when copy-pasting walls and windows into them from affected docs. 11. quote: Originally posted by lmt: Has anyone tried this? In my computer it looks like another bug : If I select more then 1 wall and try to change their class. It just doesn't work? I can change their class one by one but not many walls at the same time... If someone has experimented this and found a workaround, any help is welcome. Thanks. Not only that... 1. Also, attempting to change parameters in more than one window at the same time (or door, or viewport)... 2. Killing the redraw or the rendering with Command-Period (as was perfectly OK in 11.5)... ...sometimes crashes VW 12.0. [ 11-26-2005, 09:37 AM: Message edited by: Ramon PG ]
  12. quote: Originally posted by lmt: Anout SVPs. I'm trying to convert a section VP in 2D so to use it as a base for a presentation section view. I select the SVP and use "convert copy to line". The result is not as expected... Too many lines... can't read it. I've also tried "convert copy to polygone".. not much better, no line are hidden. I use to do that with elevation and it would ask me how I wanted to render it. Is there a way to do this with SVPs? Thanks My suggestion is not to use the original VP lines because of what you encountered. Someone suggested, and that's the best way, to draw your new lines on top of the VP's. You'll work faster than trying to erase your way to the desired look, believe me.
  13. quote: Originally posted by jfmarch: Thank you Robert, I have posted it in that section. The titleblock is simply our standard with VP's. It 'references' out titleblock and sheet layer for that particular sheet view. It has always worked fine. I would strongly suggest you take a look at the Issue Manager. Just one minor revision to half the sheets on a set and you'll be glad...
  14. quote: Originally posted by Robert Anderson: Ramon, temporarily uncheck "use symbol geometry" and then set all the parameters you want to see in the schedule. Then re-check. As far as I know, the "Door record" in the data tab of the OI palette is obsolete. The new schedules access only the Door or Window's properties. Thanks for the info.
  15. quote: Originally posted by Ramon PG: OK I was able to make the Door symbol. But how do I edit its parameters so that they show in the Door Schedule? The Door's Obj info will let me enter the height and width of the door; but where do I edit the thickness? And, can you, PLEASE, explain the difference and when one should use the door Settings and when the Door Record Data in the Obj Info palette? Editing one will not update the other !!!!! Still lost on these... [ 11-24-2005, 04:49 AM: Message edited by: Ramon PG ]
  16. Another DTM in SVPs question: Is there a way of controlling the looks of the DTM so that it does not show "hollow" in Section Viewports? I would like it to show a hatch similar to what you can get with Advanced Properties>Attributes>Section Plane. [ 11-23-2005, 05:08 PM: Message edited by: Ramon PG ]

  18. quote: Originally posted by dfortin: Ramon, I'm talking about the document following document settings: Layer Scale: i.e 1/4" Units: i.e Feet and Inches. etc... Also Is this a converted file from a previous version? Or is it a new 12.0 document? The file was sent to Yi Chen at NNAS Tech Dept. And, it is a converted file from version 11.5. 19. A temporary way around the huge border bug is this. There may be others. 1. Go into the Annotations mode in the VP. 2. Manually draw the windows. 3. Deselect the VPs window class. 4. Update VP and you'll see that the huge borders have gone away and an opening now exists where the window should be. At least it (the opening) has the correct location and height. Doesn't work for renderings but helps get the job done and paid.
  20. quote: Originally posted by BiplabNNA: 1. You can edit the attributes of the Section Style class to control this. 2. Make sure that the objects you are trying to section are in a visible layer and visible class in the section vp. 3. What it means that you can't create a section viewport from another section viewport. 1. OK. I selected the Class atribute for Section Plane and changed the line representation (width). Ovbious... 2. Checked that, many times. Still a mystery. 3. Beg to differ. Actually this was the only way to do it. I may have done something wrong in the process of making the "defective" SVPs, but I can confirm to you that you can duplicate a SVP, provoke the Section Line Instance, and later relocate the Section Line where needed. I think it is an extra convenience when a lot of Layer/Class editing is required. As in regular VPs you set it up once and just keep on going. Thanks for the concern. 21. Also, file size has in the past day blown up from 100 mb to 226 mb. Actually, it is now (Nov. 27, 2005) 782.8 mbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And starting to freak me out... [ 11-27-2005, 09:24 PM: Message edited by: Ramon PG ]
  22. It just happened today. Huge frames around doors, too. It happened when I edited an existing door in 3D (isometric) in order to make it solid (no glass). It then showed a strange condition as far as wall healing. I decided to try and see if turning on the trim option would cause the same effect as in window. And it did. Now, editing any existing door will affect the wall heal in 3D. VW 12 was definitely not ready for shipping. Going back to 11.5 will be a terrible time waster for me. 23. 1. Is there a way to control the line thickness of sectioned objects? I currently control the cross section hatch via Advanced Section Properties>Attributes. 2. Also, I am getting very erratic results with SVPs. I will not get some items, like the roof, sectioned even when selected in Layers and Classes. I had to resort to duplicating another properly drawing SVP and then recreating and relocating its marker. 3. Also, what exactly does this mean: "If creating a section view from an existing viewport, select a non-sectioned viewport object."
  24. Robert: 1. Beleive me, i can definitely live with the window lines. It's the huge borders I'm worried. They disfigure all elevations, sections and isometrics. 2. Would you mind explaining a bit about the "faceting". I can understand the principle, but I cannot find any useful references in the Help files. Where do I tweak that? 25. quote: Originally posted by CipesDesign: Yes, this is a bug. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. In my case the "huge borders" go away if I do not have trim on the windows. Peter: I was wondering if in your case the borders do go away. Or can you confirm what we have observed: NO windows, just a hole in the wall. ??
