  1. Sometimes you have to go very deep into the object and make sure the texture is applied to the appropriate class at the bottom level. I have had issues like this also. Also (You probably already know this) but under the Render tab in the OIP, make sure that texture is showing up.
  2. Hey Tom, I got pricing from my regional dealer, or maybe give NNA a call directly. http://www.nemetschek.net/sales/US.php
  3. I dont see anything about 64 bit either. Also, has anyone noticed anything about a faster upgraded rendering engine? I havent been able to find anything.
  4. I have this issue frequently (if it is the same issue). I believe it has to do with how the symbol is grouped... I honestly think this is a bug, but if you change your fill style to Solid/Pattern fill it renders correctly. Try it and let me know.
  5. Can you create a circular array of lines revolving around the centre point of the oval, then use the split tool? Eddie
  6. I use the fillet or chamfer tool frequently to round off edges of - say a piece of wood-. It would be nice to have a tool that does a cove-edge. Does anyone know such an animal?
  7. I am more interested in modifying a solid, not 2D objects. Thanks Mike.
  8. I still havent found the spot where I need to plug the tap into however....
  9. Good point that I will second: I bought a dual 2.5 a week after the dual 2.7's came out, and I got mine for +$50 more than the new dual 2.3. Plus I got more front end bus speed than the dual 2.3.
  10. EJ, this stuff is totally wild. Can you write a step-by-step. You indicate it is fairly easy if you know the process. I bet all of us would love to see the logistics behind it. Eddie
  11. Yep, everything is the same. I am thinking to upgrade to 11.5 on the smaller Mac, and i will re-calc. Then again, why would I?
  12. I dont believe that software needs to be written differently to take advantage of Dual Core processors. (unlike 64 bit which it does) I would guess that it would make more of a speed difference than without.
  13. Aladino, I tried AutoCad on Virtual PC on my Dual 1Gig G4, and it was really slow. Keep in mind that the machine has to try and run 2 operating systems simultaneously. Aside from the slowness, it does run without a glitch. I had 3D Studio running as well on it. I'm not sure about the video card helping out 2D redraw, but I know that for OpenGL work, the video card is paramount. Rendering speeds are based solely on processor speed, as they dont use the video card at all. I would try and be patient if you can. There are many people on this forum that complain about the speed of vectorworks. You are going to be more frustrated on AC with VPC. Hopefully it will be fixed soon in version 12. PS I also noticed that in this slow file, you have imported a few DWGs. I have found that DWGs are brutal on Vectorworks in slowness. Try it in DXF and see if there is a dif.
  14. Hi Ray, Hard Drive on the larger machine is 120 Gig. It has about 60 Gig of free space. The other drive is an 80 Gig, and has about 60 Gig of free space as well. I am still waiting on my DiscWarrior update to do a proper 'defrag' on the Mac. All permissions have been repaired quite recently.
  15. To bring this back up again, I just did a speed test in another thread. I thought I would post the results here as well: Here is a very interesting test I just completed. First of all I have 2 machines: 1. G5, Dual 1.8G, 2G RAM. OSX 10.4, VW 11.1 2. G5, Dual 2.5G, 2.5G RAM, OSX 10.4, VW 11.5 Both machines are completely updated and are running only Vectorworks. The test consisted of updating a viewport in a drawing. Same file, same viewport. Now, looking at the machines, you would expect that machine #2 should kick Machine #1 pretty badly... Well, here are the results. Update Viewport on #1 with 11.1: 5:36 Update Viewport on #2 with 11.5: 6:56 The slower machine running less RAM on 11.1 is a whole 1 minute, 20 seconds quicker than machine #2, which should be far more capable. Eddie

  17. I just noticed this as well. Repair permissions, and it should solve it. Worked for me.
  18. Sorry all, false alarm. Some of my render settings were not matched exactly on all the viewports. Still as slow as ever. Man ... I was all excited. Eddie
  19. I have been ripping my hair out with the rendering time for multiple viewports since upgrading to 11.51, and my frustration has been evident through other threads and posts I have commented on. I decided to do an experiment, and freshly re-build the template I used to do my drawings in 11.51 instead of using the one created in 11.01. I have exactly duplicated the template in 11.51, and I have gained literally about 10x more speed in rendering times by building it in 11.51. On a typical design I just completed, rendering of all the viewports took a meer 4 minutes, where if I use the template created in 11.01 (rendered in 11.51), it took-no word of a lie ... 35+ minutes! I just thought I'd let all you frustrated people know that it may have to do with some carryover files or templates?? Eddie
  20. Thanks RHF. Now it is getting clearer.
  21. So this looks like it is an additional application that you purchase. 'OS X Server'. ??? A little confusing here. I thought it was included in Tiger 10.4.
