  1. Thanks Pete, there no such thing I know of on Mac OS X, but I'm glad you bought it up. I hadn't thought of propagation as a method for standardising resources. I could probably use Apple Remote Desktop to push the files and Automator to push or pull the files maybe. Still it would seem simpler, from the point of view of a user, to simply toggle between networked or local resources.
  2. I have to say I like the new handles.
  3. I'm in the process of centralising and rationalising resources such as Libraries and Templates for our office. The strategy I'm in the midst of testing is to put all the resources on the server in folders, named as per those in the Vectorworks application folder, and then replace the folders in the Vectorworks application folder with alias' (shortcuts) to the folders now on the server. This seems to work okay so far but it's not ideal as we have a number of people who come in with laptops, so when I implement this on their machines they lose all their resources when they're not in the office. So, in this instance, it would be good if they could toggle between local and networked resources. I'll post any further suggestions here when I think of them.
  4. I'm trying to get rid of the tens of Wall Styles that appear available in any new file. I've removed the files from Libraries > Wall Styles and restarted Vectorworks but they're still there when you go to wall preferences and click on the Wall Style pulldown menu.
  5. Navigation seems pretty fundamental to me.
  6. You could save your Word document as RTF files first and then copy & paste. This method keeps some formatting. P.S. is it just me or does everyone seem to spell loses incorrectly? I think it'll eventually evolve actually and dictionaries will just start listing looses as an alternative spelling.
  7. There is a thread here noting the differences. You might like to explain what you think is different in a little more detail: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB12&Number=34188
  8. Is there any way to get around the problem of having to manually flip mirrored text when exporting files to DWG/DXF?
  9. Really! I can't seem to replicate the problem in VW. Here's an example of the problem in Artlantis:
  10. What about reinstalling the plugin and making sure you have the latest one?
  11. Export a new file (instead of updating your existing one) and then open the file in Artlantis. Then go to File > Use Reference File and select your old file and make sure you have the middle option checked (with the little 3D box icon).
  12. Have you tried exporting a new file and referencing in the materials from the old file?
  13. You're better off asking this question on the Artlantis forum: http://www.artlantis.com/support/forum/liste.php?fid=atl_import_us But, in any case, what preference settings are you using to export? Class, texture, fill or pen?
  14. Am I correct in assuming that this allows the Autocad user to adjust the text automatically? Whereas if you leave it checked they end up with two instances of text orientation and have to flip each instance manually?
  15. Where're not immune from such problems these days. It's just the reality of current technology if you want a secure networked environment.
  16. When you say nothing changes do you mean nothing changes in the Attributes Palette or nothing changes visually on your drawing? If it's the later you might want to turn on Zoom Line Thickness under Preferences > Display.
  17. I've just come across a file showing some 3D info in 2D view as well (a bunched of 3D objects).
  18. Are you running Windows or Mac OS (client and server), and which versions?
  19. You can add NZ, UK and the Middle East to that list.
  20. Pre-12.5 wishlists at this point really have no basis in reality if such a release is imminent. If they haven't been included already then you're probably shooting for post-12.5.
  21. Having mentioned this to the workmate in question he said "that is odd, I had numerous engineers whingeing about 3d content in our exports polluting their drawings. Remember that a line in autocad is a 3d object." What could these engineers be complaining about I wonder?
  22. No, as Katie said, you need to up the size of your DPI for printing. To at least 300 DPI. 72 DPI is for viewing on screen. You're also going to have to create a custom page size and use that, as Katie mentioned.
  23. I see there's also a plugin called "Export Plug-in from Vectorworks 12 to Artlantis 4.5" on this page: http://www.abvent.com/support/download/index.php But as I said, for whatever reason, I can export to 4.5 using the plugin linked to above.
