  1. Robert, if you read these two threads you'll see that I use Artlantis because it offers superior workflow and output to Renderworks: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB20&Number=60663 http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB20&Number=60356 In fact there are some screenshots of a project that I simply could not have completed if I had attempted to do them with Renderworks. The difference is that big. I'd rather see Renderworks compete on merit but, frankly, if it's going to be a obstacle to better interoperability with 3rd party rendering tools (as per my link above), I'd rather NNA dropped Renderworks altogether. In fact this is not such a silly idea either, as it seems that the main obstacle to Renderworks working on a level to that of Artlantis is that fact that it's tied into the Vectorworks environment. Update: URL corrected
  2. I would have expected them to be in: Vectorworks/Libraries/Defaults/Renderworks - Backgrounds/ But they're not in my v12.5 installation.
  3. Try this: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB12&Number=65515
  4. Architect and Architect with Landscape (maybe others) Workspaces do not include the Zoom Out tool. It seems a very odd one not to include and is probably the number one alteration I need to explain to people new to Vectorworks 12. I'd like it back (with its 'V' shortcut too), nested with 'Zoom In' if need be.
  5. It breaks Artlantis export too; these updates always do. Usually Abvent sort something out in a week or two. There doesn't appear to be much communication between Abvent and NNA. Same with Maxon by the sounds of things. Unfortunately I think it boils down to NNA's old school attitude toward companies that it sees as competition: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthrea...60226#Post60933 It's an attitude that surprises me when you consider the success of "web 2.0" companies these days, like Flickr.com etc., whose number one feature is interoperability and openness.
  6. See 'What's New' at: http://www.nemetschek.net/12.5/vwinfo.php
  7. After downloading the updater again it worked for me, and I didn't turn my firewall off, plus I still had other applications running. We have been having problems with our internet connection so it's possible we didn't have a connection the first time I tried. Hopefully turning off your firewall will work for those of you still having a problem. Or maybe NNA have reconfigured things at their end? Judging by my experience I suggest you download the updater again if you still have a problem.
  8. Hmm, I restarted and now it looks fine. Looks like a Mac OS X problem after all.
  9. I downloaded the update from: http://www.nemetschek.net/12.5/vwinfo.php After updating the HASP driver as per: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB12&Number=65515 I then ran the 12.5 updater, but got this message: And then this message: Which reads: Possibly of note is that my initial download stalled and I had to restart it, so I'm downloading the updater file again.
  10. Thanks Marek, I've PM'd you my email address. (I also phoned Alladin headquarters and left a message with their website department, not that they're likely to understand my accent)
  11. Download won't start for me Anyone able to share it?
  12. Works for me okay in Acrobat too, but it's still broken in Preview.app, which suggests it's been created incorrectly.
  13. HASP driver update address being: http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp Would be nice to have a link and explanation added to: http://www.nemetschek.net/12.5/vwinfo.php
  14. There appears to be something wrong with the PDF at: http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_misc/VW12.5_WhatsNew.pdf Linked from this page: http://www.nemetschek.net/12.5/vwinfo.php When I open it with Preview.app some of the text looks like this:
  15. I don't know any tips to fix your current install, but the first thing I would do is try installing it again.
  16. I'd like the ability to use dynamic data with Record Format objects (instead of just static text/numbers). For instance I'd like to specify that it gets and displays the X and Y coordinates of the symbol. This would allow me to place benchmarks on a site plan and automatically display their Northing and Easting values. I could imagine it being helpful in all sorts of other areas too.
  17. Adding a 2D Locus to the symbol didn't help Islandmon (I did try that), neither did adding Locus points to the point before adding the benchmark.
  18. It's a pity you can't add dynamic data to Record Format Objects (e.g. X-Y coordinates).
  19. Thanks islandmon, although I'm finding that it's inaccurate. I activate the tool, then hover over an object (which gives me smart cursor feedback) and then click, and then need to click again to place the benchmark. The problem is that on the second click the smart cursor disappears and it's not snapping to anything, so I've been unable to actually create the benchmark in the correct position (it's always a few mils out).
  20. Thanks islandmon. Presumably I enter this into the Vectorscript editor. If so, what do I enter it as? A tool, point object...?
  21. Probably better located at kbase.nemetschek.net than techboard.nemetschek.net
  22. Is it possible to make a symbol that dynamically displays its X and Y coordinates? I'm getting into Record Formats for the first time and wondered if they could do it somehow? Ot is there plugin object that already achieves this? I'm creating a site plan and want to put corner markers on the buildings with their Northing-Easting values.
  23. Can someone give the low down on the user settings folder in v12? What can and can't you put in there? Why aren't Workspaces in there, for instance? Or the Library, Templates, Standards? Is it a good place to put Class Mapping files?
  24. Ah huh! Thanks Kevin. The problem was that I wasn't "completing the command." I was expecting it to save the file as per the current mappings I had defined. I didn't realise you had to actually go through with the mapping on that particular file. I think the interface is counterintuitive as it stands. I would rather it actually saved your mappings as defined when you click on the save button. However, if there are technical or logical reasons as to why the file doesn't get populated until you actually go through with the procedure then I think we need a new interface: say a checkbox to say you would like to save a mapping file, and then either an extra button to choose its location (with Desktop or user settings folder as default) or a dialogue box that pops up and asks you to choose a location when you click on OK. Thanks again.
