  1. Page appears to have been removed. More info here: http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/leopard/spotlightserver.html http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/quicklook.html And according to Ars Technica developers can build their own filters to work with it. Look forward to it NNA.
  2. Is it possible to make the Dimension Exterior Walls command create chain dimensions?
  3. Is there any way to get the Dimension Exterior Walls command to dimensions symbols in walls to their outer limits (or to loci maybe) and with constrained dimensions instead of unconstrained?
  4. Here's a couple of screenshots of what I might expect, the second of which is the least I'd expect and the first of which is using a Velfac window.
  5. It's not a symbol though, it's a PIO. Here's another one. Look at the state of this door PIO in plan view. Why does the door threshold not carry to the edges of the jambs?
  6. Is there a quick way to duplicate/offset a Space into a Polygon? We're looking into using the Space tool for our feasibility studies but the person who does usually likes to be able to draw a polygon and then duplicate/offset it to indicate wall thicknesses. The problem for us is that if you duplicate/offset a Space it creates another Space. A more pertinent question: what's the easiest way to represent wall thicknesses when using the Space tool?
  7. Please please please fix the window PIO for the next release. I really want our office to be using window PIOs but there're a slew of simple reasons why we can't. Check out attached image. It's meant to be a window with an external stone sill, but where's the internal sill in plan and what are those lines on each side where the external sill extends beyond the jamb? These are not the only problems (feel free to link to or note other problems) but they're a good example of bugs that are highly limiting and should have been dealt with long before now in a maintenance release. Also see 3D view where brick shows through sill (there may be a fix for this, anyone?)
  8. Presumably consistency of user interface would dictate that such a feature would reside in the Resource Browser somewhere as this is where the actual symbol lives. A scale box in the OIP would be inconsistent because a symbol instance is not an editable object. Not that I think the whole Resource Browser and Symbol paradigm works all that well, but more on that elsewhere: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=77220
  9. Although it's on the wishlist: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=74599
  10. It would be great if we had a GUI to insert notes into the VectorWorks (time spent in program) Log, without leaving VectorWorks. Sometimes when you go through a log it's difficult to tell what you were doing between opening a file and closing one, so why not give us, say, a popup window that lets you insert timestamped notes. Then we could add notes like "went to lunch," "back from lunch," etc. Probably worth making them stand out too in some way, such as making them bold.
  11. From the Notes Manager window, which appears when you edit an existing set of notes. But how do you do it for an existing set of notes, say? Couldn't see a preferences button for General Notes. But I was able to select a different database (i.e. same database in different location) when I used a fresh file. The problem I have is just with an existing file.
  12. 1st thing I'd do is double check that your gridlines are on the layer you think they're on.
  13. Only thing I can think of is to name everything as it was. That is the shared volume and the entire directory: So if it was: Office > Projects > Project file And it's now: New Office > New Projects > Project file You should configure your new server back to: Office > Projects > Project file
  14. Yeap, all characters. Even if I put both the VW file and the General Notes database file on the desktop and work from there the same thing happens. Presumably it's an issue with the file (which wouldn't surprise me considering it's history) because I can get normal behaviour out of a fresh VW file. The only thing that works for now is to subsitute the default database in the VW app folder with my one.
  15. This is the way we're looking at things too. It would be good if VW was geared toward this sort of process. But they can be sorted can't they? This is what we've been doing; we have a custom text symbol in the plans that shows door numbers, etc. which we link to records. We then create a worksheet from this, which can be sorted by column.
  16. Ah I see what you're getting at, but no, it's a maximum of 115 characters.
  17. It's on our file server, a network volume, in the project folder (e.g. Office > Projects > Project > General Notes.txt )
  18. Yes, as far as I can work out (owned with read and write access). I tried saving a new file from the Notes Manager too, but it still resets. The database I want to use is on a network volume if that makes any difference.
  19. In fact I seem to have something really strange going on. If I close the Notes Manager window, or even if I simply try to edit a note the active database is reset to the default.
  20. If I choose a notes database to be active for a particular file, save the file, close and reopen it, the active notes database has reset itself back to the default (i.e. Plug-ins > Common > Notes) and I have to choose the correct database again. This isn't the behaviour I would expect. Is it a bug or is there a reason for this?
  21. Has this particular factor being submitted as a bug?
  22. Reloading the page gets around this problem.
  23. Yeah you're right, there's little or no advantage to the current system for the user.
