  1. Thanks G. Now why didn't I think of that. I have been trying to draw using the keyboard to execute commands and minimizing using the the cursor back to the pallets to increase productivity. Good work around.
  2. Yovav, What HP printer are you using? On my 130nr I can print grayscale using the Quartz filter but I don't have a properties button or anything about clusters. I would love to be able to this. The copier I use has very few shades of gray and beautiful renderings come out as dark globs when copied. The old Apple drivers used to call this "dithering".
  3. Does anyone know how to make the leader line tool have only one segment instead of two? Thanks,
  4. After you get the perspective window use the "walk through" tool to back out till you see the whole object, and then use the "translate view" tool to move the object inside the perspective window. Larry
  5. JB, It works automatically for me. I have "w" on the keyboard setup to execute the "wall type" but when I draw and have a wall with a cavity selected VW switches to "wall" while I'm drawing then switches back when I'm finished. I have to admit I never did know why this happens but it seems to work just fine. Larry
  6. It appears to be working fine for me. Larry
  7. This has happened to me a couple of times. Each time I waited for the autosave dialog to come up so I could save my work, then had to do a force quit and relaunch VW. I don't know what caused it. Most of the menus were gray even save and quit. Larry
  8. Jim, I have problem with weird icons once in a while and can't get a file to open. The solutions is to "get information" > "open with" and select the correct program. If it's not listed go to other and navigate to it.
  9. Why does Vectorworks 11.01 reserve the use of F keys 1-4? Larry
  10. I just create a viewport of my 3D linked layer view completely rendered in a texture. Different walls have different light so you can see each wall segment clearly. I then use mostly white dimensions and text over the textured viewport. Using black looks ok on the screen but the white copies better. I wish I could print with one of the old Apple color to b/w dither routines the way the old laserwriters would print color. I'm still searching for a copy place that can get nice levels of gray scale. Larry
  11. The work around seems to be convert to group then edit the group and remove the 3D Locus and regroup. The first time I tried this I had some strange results but it seems to be working correctly now. It would be nice if we could turn them off with a check box in the OIP. Thanks for your help. Larry
  12. How do I get rid of the Locus points in a fireplace plug-in? They show thru on the rendering outside the wall. Thanks, Larry
  13. Thanks Jonathan, that was my problem. It always seems to be some little thing that hangs me up. Your help is most appreciated. Larry
  14. I have a question about this. I have set my Units dialog box to "Display exact fractional value to: No Fractions" and the Round non-exact fractions to: 1". I draw a line that is 1'-0 1/4" long. When I dimension that line it shows the exact dimension not 1'-0". In the OIP it show my Prec. to be 1/8". If I change the OIP to "No Fractions" it then displays the way I want it, 1'-0" even though the line is 1'-0 1/4". Why is the default not globally set to "No Fractions" by setting the Units dialog to "No Fractions"? Larry
  15. Jan, Thanks. I have looked at that "custom" button several times but never went all the way through the process to figure it out. My personal opinion is that one is not very intuitive. Again thank you for the help. Larry
  16. How do you set the "text off" default? I want it very close to the line but not in the line. I would like to set it .0001 instead of 3". Thanks, Larry
  17. Jonathan, All you have to do is zap the pram and your back to the original. Besides that my warranty expired almost a year and a half ago. I wish I had done this a long time ago. It is really nice to completely expand the tool pallet. Also at the lower resolution the tool icons are much larger and really easy to use. And now my drawing is 1440 x 900 unobstructed pixels with no pallets. I've tried everything I know of and I can't break it. Having said all that, you are absolutely right. I read the entire discussion board on the patch site before I pushed that button to install the patch and the only reason I took the chance is knowing I could go back to the original if I needed to. Thanks, Larry
  18. I just discovered something. I found a patch that let's my iMac 800 17" (should work with all iMacs, eMacs, and iBooks) connect to a second monitor via vga using monitor spanning not mirroring. Wow is this a productivity booster. I had an old Apple 17" multiscan monitor that hasn't been used in about 3 years. I got a Mac to vga adapter for $10 and ran the patch. I had the vga cable. These monitors are all over ebay for almost nothing but the shipping charge. Runs at 1024x768. If you're interested check out this site for the patch. http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html Larry
  19. I'm tring to print my all my sheet to a pdf file. I have my page setup and my printer default setup to print pdf. When I use batch print and select all the pages I want to print I see every page print on the little dialog box but when I open the pdf file it only has the first page. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks - Larry
  20. Thanks Travis, I thought it was strange I couldn't get it to work. This is a floor on a cantilever section so I didn't have walls to hide it in. My work around is to create some 12" walls that will texture and hide the floor. Larry
  21. This might be a dumb question but I can't get the edge of my floor to show a texture. Tried both directly in the OIP and by assigning a class texture. All I get is texture on the top of the floor. Thanks - Larry iMac 800 17" 1gig OSX 10.3.6 VW 11.01
  22. I found a method that works. Select ->Color ->ColorSync ->Quartz Graytone.
  23. I'm printing to a Designjet 130nr using the driver that came with it from HP. In the final print command dialog box you can set the paper type, quality, adn the color setting. Under color is Colorsmart III (default), ColorSync, Grayscale, and Applications manage colors. Changing to grayscale still prints a rendered drawing in full color. I called HP and they said that the VW driver was over riding the grayscale command. When I look at the VW driver it only has a selection for scaling. Does anyone know what I need to set to get a grayscale printout of a color rendering? Thanks, Larry 17" iMac 800 1gig VW11.01 OSX 10.3.6
  24. I would second this. I can't seem to break the impulse to nudge windows. It just seems natural.
