  1. Thank you Alan This is for a residential project situated in quite a sloping land. Every staircase has different elevation and it can be tricky to keep track of every layer and get the annotation right. Earlier we used a simple symbol with record format connected to the text but this will be so much easier Attached are the "final" version of the stamp saved as a red symbol and one adjustable one for some exceptions where it will be handy to add a value to the layer elevation. 2. Thanks again for excellent support! Kind regards Hans-Olav
  3. wow just saw your second file! fabulous
  4. Thank you so much Marissa This is close to perfect, I think i could live with the comma (-: I have a few more questions: If I use it fifty times in the project file, is it a danger that the file will be to heavy or complicated? It would be a huge time saver to just drop the object on every staircase and get the right elevation automatic. Would you recommend to make it a symbol or red symbol? Is it complicated to make a dropdown menu to choose available classes ( instead of Dimension ) and the let the stamp take the text style associated with chosen class?
  5. Hi I am trying to build a simple object that reports the layer elevation on the layer it is placed. I want it to take the attributes the text style associated to the dimension class The text has a prefix K: and then the number K:0, K: 13500 Only the K takes the right text style, the number part is unformatted and a .0 is added at the end. Ideally i want it to display like K: 13.500 and everything in the text style associated with Dimension class. Thanks in advance Hans-Olav
  6. Update: I made a new test account. VW runs fine. -> something is wrong with my work account. any ideas on where to look? Hans-Olav
  7. I have repaird permissions and run applejack. no luck so far. Hans-Olav
  8. Hello I have just installed VW 2009 E license as an administrator on my PowerMac G5 (Tiger). The installation and registration went well, and the program works well as long as I am logged in as admin. When switching to my regular non admin account I'm asked to enter the password again, and VW refuses to accept it. I have tried this tips: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/634/Serial+Numbers+not+Retaining+in+Standard+User+Accounts I tried the same thing on my Intel MacBook Pro (Leopard) and everything is ok! Any clues how to fix the PowerMac? Hans-Olav
  9. Hi Doug You could ungroup one of the Detail Bubble tool instances and create a symbol of it. Create a new recordformat, and link text to record inside the symbol. Then you have a custom symbol with text inside that is editable in the data tab of the info palette good luck hoa
  10. Thats interesting, but a terribly time-consuming workaround. VW should support unicode text input in all levels. Not only in the text tool! Under Leopard with VW 12.5.3 and 2008, Icelandic special characters ???? fail in worksheets, layer and class names and all other places except in the text tool. One workaround is to install the old Classic Mac Roman key set from http://www.apple.is/islenska/ but this can affect other programs thats behaves well without localization. _________ Hans-Olav Reykjavik Iceland www.tst.is
  11. E.Walker This broken reference messages happens when you change name or edit resources in the parent file and the old one gets obsolete in the child file. I have made an habit to ?Purge Unused Objects? from time to time in the child file to keep it light and clean. Kind Regards _________ Hans-Olav Reykjavik Iceland www.tst.is
  12. Thank you Frank and Jeffrey for your helpful answers. Currently there's a lot of ?BIM-buzz? here in Iceland. The State Building Authorities are demanding BIM knowledge for some of their projects, like in the most of the other Nordic countries. - It looks like IFC import and export capabilities of CAD software are the most important factor these days. Some colleagues are worried about having to learn, and to invest in expensive new software. ( Revit / Archicad ) I am hoping that the hybrid 2d/3d concept of VW will develop to support the IFC standard even better. There?s a lot of work to be done by the local authorities also, connected to standards, naming conventions of building parts and specifications before we have true BIM. In the mean time we are trying to train our staff to draw more buildings in 3d, and to experiment with the IFC commands in VW. And finally a wish list item! -It would be nice if the VW door and window plug-in's would be more customizable or international (european). ________ Hans-Olav Reykjavik Iceland
  13. Hello all We have been using VW for a long time, both in 2d and 3d. I am trying to figure out how to best adopt the IFC stuff in our workflow. We have never used the VW windows and doors, always made our custom ones. Will records attached to hybrid symbols export as IFC info, or do we have to set up the record formats in a certain way to succeed in the exporting process? Have any of you had success in exchanging drawings the IFC way? ________ Hans-Olav Reykjavik Iceland
  14. Dave and Katie Thanks for your kind replay. I did both, and after adjusting other settings I got a acceptable rendering of the whole page. Thanks again Hans-Olav
  15. I get only a few lines of the image, then VW crashes. I have included the crash log, if anyone understands what it says. I haven't used VW for rendering for a while and don't know if it has something to do with Quicktime 7.3? VW 12.5.2 MacOSX 10.4.10 4x2,5 Ghz PowerPc G5 3GB sdram kind regards Hans-Olav
  16. Hello dcont The same happened here also, I think it is a new bug and should be reported. hoa
