  1. I think this can be worked around by creating a symbol of the door, then the wall hole component of the symbol will cut all the way through each component within the wall properly. But this being the default behavior for inserting a door into a styled wall is no good. Would you mind posting a mock-up of what the expected appearance should be, or an image of what it would look like finished in real life for reference? In any case, I'll work with it and submit it as an issue.
  2. AHEM, ERRR, UMM... nothing to see here no idea what you're talking about! [img:center]http://i.imgur.com/Dst9X9b.gif[/img]
  3. As a followup: When it hits your actual memory maximum now, I THINK (I'll confirm with Engineering) what is occurring is that is starts writing the overflow to disk temporarily, so you may still get that error, but only when it has filled your maximum available memory as well as your entire hard drive. Which really... shouldn't happen.
  4. As far as I have seen and understand it, YES! I have not been able to get that error to pop up so far in my testing. (Before you ask, no we didn't just change the error message text to say something else. ) Instead, it should now plow through and complete the operation. However, if you happen to have that reproducible error in a particular file, send it my way and I can ensure this is the case.
  5. Sorry, forgot part of your question: To view the exported movies, on the receiving end QuickTime will still play them, but you can also use VLC (My personal choice) or most other media player apps. MOV and AVI in these compression modes are fairly standard nowadays.
  6. To clarify, QuickTime is no longer needed on the Windows side. QuickTime on OS X is an embedded component of the OS and is much more capable than its 32bit Windows cousin, as well as being 64bit. The movie format is the same, still .MOV for modern versions, but the component that exports them (named the "Vectorworks Movie Writer SDK" if you were curious) no longer has so many compression options within that .MOV format. However, this choice was made on the large majority of users favoring the H.264 compression standard. For older versions of Windows that don't natively support .MOV, we use .AVI. OLD: 2014 Mac+Win Format: .mov (QuickTime) Compression: Animation, DV-PAL, DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, DVCPRO-PAL, H.264, JPEG2000, MPEG4 Video, None, Photo-JPEG, PNG, Video NEW: 2015 Mac Format: .mov (MPEG4) Compression: H.264 2015 Win 7/8 Format: .mov (MPEG4) Compression: H.264 2015 Win XP/Vista Format: .avi (Audio Video Interleave) Compression: MJPEG (Motion JPEG)
  7. As far as I understand, from a Design Layer view the "intended" functionality is still that it should be exporting to an equivalent of "Model Space" rather than "Paper Space." However, agreed, I hate that. It should be made far more obvious that the view you are in affects the resulting exported file. It certainly shouldn't be doing nothing though. If you have time, please send that file in as an example and we can have a look.
  8. Get in touch with support directly if its time sensitive. If nothing else they may be able to export it for you on another machine/with another version to get the DWG out to you while they look for the root cause on your machine.
  9. Object was sent to me directly. At the moment, it looks like the answer is no. This particular example doesn't seem to be hitting the memory limit in 2014, so the much higher limit that 64bit provides doesn't come into play and/or help at all. Regardless, this is WAY too slow to be useable but the guts of the array don't appear to be anything out of the ordinary or constructed improperly at first glance at least. Submitting it now as an example for Surface Array issues.
  10. I hadn't made it its own separate feature request, doing so now.
  11. I think it is normally done the opposite way, where the section viewport is created and then marked in elevation. However, it seems there should be an automated way of creating multiple elevation marks on commonly marked points, I'll ask around.
  12. Stop! You guys are going to make me think I am actually as important as my over-inflated ego tells me I am. But I am immensely glad my work is so beneficial. I will keep it coming and try to find more ways to get the information flowing.
  13. Can you send me that object? I'll test and see. EDIT: I would make my own and check but I have seen multiple causes for slowness in surface array objects, I want to make sure I'm not lying to you.
  14. I think I submitted something similar from this thread recently: https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=200876&page=4 I'll check and add this thread to it.
  15. Only if the service pack modified the content files. SPs don't normally reset/refresh every file. This doesn't usually occur without it being listed in the release notes. But yes, there is a chance the default files could be wiped during updates/reinstalls, best to make backups of your customized versions. Eventually all the customization will take place in the User folders so the patches wont mess with them at all, but for now some customizing still has to be done in the application folder directly.
  16. If 3D visualization is a concern at all I would almost always suggest including Renderworks in any price comparisons. OpenGL can do a small part of it on its own but you really do need Renderworks to have full control of textures and quality rendering modes.
  17. Submitting request now. I know this has been a desired ability for awhile now and I know there are plans for it to work like this eventually. I have seen much R&D towards it, I think the main limiting factor was lag but I don't know if the coming memory limit removals are all that was standing in its way or not.
  18. Same issue here, submitting it now. For the time being it looks like they will have to be added via the reshape tool. Add Vertices mode lets you add additional labels along the major contours.
  19. Under Vectorworks2014\Libraries\Defaults\Walls~Slabs If you remove all of those files, or put them elsewhere, Vectorworks will not load the default styles at all. If you edit them, you can add/remove whichever individual wall styles you like to customize your list. There are plans to reduce the number of styles in this default list since its a bit much.
  20. Post that site model in a file by itself here if you can and I'll take a look. If you can't, email it in to support directly. I know you can use the reshape tool to add more contour labels manually but I had thought it was supposed to add the major contour labels automatically.
  21. Agreed, still working on it. Will add this thread to my case.
  22. Most of the users I speak with that have an existing as well as a proposed/demolition/renovation set of layers, but keep the classes the same. Usually you can get all of the visibilities needed with a combination of Layer and Class options, and often its faster to just create a duplicate layer structure than a duplicate class structure, as users tend to have FAR more classes in a document than they do layers.
