  1. Thanks guys, No luck here... I indeed placed instance of symbol (symbol name =Projekt Box) on individual layer (Support-DO NOT EDIT-) and formula goes like this: =FormatField(((S='Projekt Box') & (L='Support-DO NOT EDIT-')), 'Projekty', 'Projekt') but unfortunately doesn't bring 'Projekt' field pop-up menu. @Pat Stanfordcan I use Record.Field as a spreadsheet function? I haven't tried it yet.
  2. Hi @ZindyCCZ Thanks for your reply. What I can confirm I bought this license in september 2010 and at that time my Mac was running latest OS X Version 10.6 (Snow Leopard, release date: 28 aug. 2009). I Cant confirm if it is compatible with 10.5.8. from my own experience, but as you can see from chart from my previous post vectorworks 2011 is officialy compatible with OS X 10.5 (Leopard, Intel based) and is NOT officialy compatible with OS X 10.5 (Leopard, PowerPC). So this might help you. I dont have any older version.
  3. Anyone with idea how to correctly use FormatField function in example in previous post...?
  4. Aha...Is that so? Criteria builder would be definitely something more cleaner, professional. I have one more question. As I know by now how to control database trough regular cell It would be nice to take it one step further and create in that cell kind of drop down menu or pop-up menu of items from format field 'Projekt'. Then I dont have to type in but rather select it from menu. I am trying to do it spreadsheet way using FORMATFIELD function with formula like this: =FORMATFIELD(((T=SYMBOL) & (N='drop-down-menu')), 'Projekty', 'Projekt') Projekty = Name of record format Projekt = format field ...but it doesnt work. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks
  5. What a joy! Thanks @Pat Stanford and @Peter Vandewalle I have been wishing to be able to do this for quite some time. It is definitely there! This gives nice flexibility working with databases...and it is so easy!
  6. Thanks @Peter Vandewalle, Can you be more specific how to exactly do it. Existing formula: =DATABASE(((S='Projekt Box') & ('Projekty'.'Stupeň'='AŠ') & (LOC='oblast kalkulacie'))) /Stupeň = Phase/ New formula =DATABASE(((S='Projekt Box') & ('Projekty'.'Stupeň'='AŠ') & ('Projekty'.'Projekt'='C2') & (LOC='oblast kalkulacie'))) /field with specific project name added/ I wish to create separate databases for same project (cell: C2). Each database for different project phase (Stupeň). I suppose my cell reference is not written correctly in database formula...
  7. Hi Pat, Thanks for quick response. I have sent you direct message with the file. Hopefully everything is clear even though it is mainly in slovak language. 😉
  8. Hello vectorworks community, I wonder how to achieve something like this: Have one symbol that its text parts are linked to one record format fields. It act as a container for storing of informations about any specific project that somebody in office was working on. Its about logging working time on daily bases...filling calendar. Informations consist of: Project ID, tasks worked on, time spent on working task, drawn by etc. Now I want to collect data through worksheet database particularly overall time spent on specific project for specific project phase. I wish I could type into one designated cell within worksheet field value (Project ID) and that way control criteria of database results. So the results show only items (symbols) where same Project ID is checked. Then whenever I need to type in different Project ID and get different results. Everything happening in one worksheet. I see that in some Preformated Reports materials quantity - take off you can type name of material directly into database header and get quantity of that material...yeah this is something closer...but i wish to have one cell apart of database where i could type in Project ID and control one database or even few databases (differ by project phase for specific project) results same time. Any idea how to achieve something like this. Is it at all possible? Thanks a lot for any input.
  9. Hi @ZindyCCZ Thanks for your response. If needed here is official compatibility list:
  10. Hi @Michael Gilbert I have VW Fundamentals 2011 Mac available. As I am looking on this compatibility list, it is officially not compatible with OS X Tiger but it might work... There is DVD and one dongle key included. I used it for Mac but I think it is hybrid installation pack. In case you are interested please write me direct message. Thanks. Pavol
  11. Hi @ZindyCCZ, I have VW Fundamentals 2011 Mac available. There is DVD and one dongle key included. I used it for Mac but I think it is hybrid installation pack. How much are you willing to pay for this one licence? In case you are interested please write me direct message. Thanks. Pavol
  12. Hi @Tom W. You are welcome. Thank you for all your posts and active engagement in many topics on this forum. I am reading most of them and I have to say there were already many answers to my questions as well. When I saw Andy's question I remind myself reading brochure year ago about then new addition to vw 2020: Data Manager. I felt quite same as you ... and was then suspicious (as I am quite often with new things) or maybe bit reluctant to properly look through the possibilities...or maybe I wasnt really in position to implement it into my workflow yet as I am only recently starting to utilise data part of possibilities within vectorworks with custom records, worksheets.. data tags BTW here it is: https://blog.vectorworks.net/november-tech-roundup-master-the-data-manager Since then I used it only once recently to map window/door with style U-value to be able with multiple datavisualization to check how well is doing thermal envelope (walls, slabs, roof...door, window) of my projects. Solution I am suggesting in previous post was really absolutly new to myself either. I just checked if it works while writing that post and it seem to be working really well. Here it is in step by step process: 1. create new class or have ready one to where new objects with record format will be. 2. open data manager, select Class-based Object from Objects window 3. use Add Class-Based Object button to select your desired class (class will be added under Class-based Object header) 4. select added class and in the middle window using Add Data Set at bottom select record or ifcentity 5. then if desired you can set any field from record format with predefined value (will become by style) 6. close manager and try draw any object in mapped class activated Hope this works for you! However to your question regarding wall style and ifc parameter: I think it might possible. Can you be more specific... Data Manager is definitely very very powerful tool and I see already many possibilities how to utilise it. E.g. strictly filtering data for any object (particullarly plug-in objects with so many different data) to only display ones that are for any given phase relevant. Instead of using object info palette and controlling data there moving to data pallete and do all settings there. And it is bidirectional! Another would be to compile different Data Sheets for different project stages... What I really miss from vectorworks side is to have new and improved feature with each latest release sufficiently presented with some nice and shiny examples reaching to the top of possible that would attract our attention. Maybe in form of some short movies with cool stuff. That said, on the other side it is quite adventures to slowly and surely discover all these hidden treasures that didnt exist before and to open up new frontiers. 🙂
  13. what about using 'Data Manager' and do the record format mapping through 'Class-based Objects'. First you 'add class-based object' then attach record/set values and when you draw in chosen class all objects within that class receive selected record format and potentially specific value you have set. I am just exploring and learning data manager capabilities and found this function ... might be useful for you. There might be different workflow that I dont know yet... I am just scratching surface.
  14. and one article from developer of this tool https://sustainableengineering.co.nz/bim2ph-the-new-connection-between-bim-and-phpp/
  15. Hi guys, Have you tried tool called bim2PH? https://passivehouse.com/04_phpp/06_bim2ph/06_bim2ph.html As I am on mac I dont have this option, but should be working on windows (with version 2018 , and maybe up?). Couldnt test it so will be happy to hear about this link tool.
  16. Have you tried mosa pattern generator? You can generate many different patterns and export them as renderworks texture, image and even an hatch. In VW2021 is under File/Import... or you can access it here: https://generator.mosa.com
  17. Hi, Thanks Pat again ...hm not really what I want to achieve. Peter I was afraid to hear your message. I strongly wonder why what appear to me as a basic task has to be done through script...? I should have included example file with worksheet in it. Here it is. You can see that in column B there are listed all components materials from slabs (thats how it works with material present any, dont why) but not components from walls. I know we have already discussed that in earlier posts but I wanted to send you file with initial state of things. To make sure that I am clear enough with the task: I want to simply collect materials (material names) from all components within slab/roof/wall styles into one database column = column B. If it is not definitely possible as Peter is writing I start to think what would be the best way to approach it and get desired result...I have zero knowledge of scripting. I have been thinking to create marionette that will generate extrudes (lets say cubes 1m x 1m x 1m) on one layer (maybe laid out on evenl spaced grid) and assign all materials in given file from resource manager. Then I can easily generate database list of all materials from extrudes and I get benefit of image preview (3D thumbnail) in database which is not possible with components... Do you think this is feasible with marionetee? materials from components.vwx
  18. Hi Pat, Would appreciate your elaboration on concat function suggestion. Sorry for pressing you into solving this issue.
  19. This is it. I need to display material data for different components in single column so I can easily summarise them and sort them. First column: material name next columns: properties of specific material from first column (see report print-screen in my earlier posts) I am not familiar with concat function, how it can be utilise in this scenario? Hope it is clear for you now. Thanks a lot.
  20. I am not sure I understand completely what you are suggesting... Is it like this? Criteria Report If I understand correctly it is not possible to combine all components in one list? If I substitute ComponentMaterial(1) with ComponentMaterial(*) I get zero list items...? Pat thanks a lot for your effort to help.
  21. Anyone with solution how to simply list (database worksheet) all present materials in wall/slab/roof style components?
  22. Thanks Pat, I should have put it differently: what is the easiest way to list all materials present on one specific layer (in my case materials present in wall/slab/roof components)? Here is layer with wall/slab/roof styles: I might be missing something but with criteria like this one: and report like this: I get list of materials but only from components of slab objects. NO wall components listed. Why only slabs components....? Here resulted worksheet: Whenever I change criteria to the one you suggested with same report: I get nothing. ----- I was hoping that it is very straightforward process to present all materials present in file on specific layer, kind of simplest task without need to go into component 1, component 2, component 3 structure... I have tested this with materials applied to extrudes and it does work as expected. I dont know maybe my report is not set correctly...? I want to simply provide client a list with all materials and their characteristics present in designed building. Any idea how to achieve it? Thanks a lot in advance.
  23. Anyone having difficulty to list in database worksheet materials that are part of wall or roof style components? I am able to generate list of <any> is present materia just those that are part of slab styles....? Any idea? Thanks.
  24. You might know this already but I have just discovered recently (after year or two working with section viewports) that '3D Conversion Resolution' option under Advanced Section Properties for section viewports make HUUUGE impact on vw update time. By default it is set to highest resolution 'Very High' and I never have payed enough attention to this very crucial setting. Example below took with 'Low' option 15sec...with 'Very High' 4minutes 30s!!! Mind you there is lot of annotations objects but 3D model (buidling + site) is fully fledged with walls/slabs/roofs that have even thin plaster component included...and all components with hatch fills. And this is the file that is migrated and was originally created few versions ago...newly created models (vw 2021) seem to update section viewports even faster. So this setting have made huge difference for my workflow...95% of time low is just fine for me. I am on iMac 2019. Nowadays I tend to use multiple view panes mode to work on model in one pane and quickly update section viewport in other. It is really fast.
  25. OK, for those struggling with same issue...crop object is to blame. When viewport/s doesn't have crop object they export/print correctly. Is there already bug report? Shall I register one?
