  1. I think you will find that if you move the mouse away from the line as you click it keeps working. It's not really a bug per say. It's a setting that applies to most tools that treat any click until the mouse has moved a number of pixels as a second click. (it's documented in the SDK). Which is a great thing for Polylgon tool. But to answer your question. Yes it has been fixed in VW11.
  2. I've been using vw11 of late... and have to say with the new viewports function. User Origin For Associated Hatchs is more an important improvement than ever before. Either that or the old "hatches" command needs a lot of work.
  3. sounds like a job for.... VectorScript.... Try www.vectordepot.com just your luck there is a brand new script in the plug-ins section called rotate hatches, and it's free one.
  4. Have a look at www.arhitosh.com there is an interview with some of techy people at NNA and the article goes into the companies own benchmark testing on various systems. Overall the G5 machines took the cake at the time, but there were various tests so you may find in rendering there is a better option. hehe Btw LordSobe, how you say monitors don't make a difference to the rendering speed? ;-) oh sure it won't won't help at all the from the time you tell the computer to render till the time it's done, but really how much of the time is that?
  5. Yep a cool tool to have at our disposal would make a great batch printing option to be able to print the whole set again at the same reduced size, while leaving the set papersizes intact.
  6. yep all good things, associated hatches would be much improved with user defined origin per object. Per Layer origins would be a nice thing to, for things like elevational brick and stone hatches. i have to agree double clicking is not the way to edit the hatch. the edit grad/image fill tool seems the best way to do it. it would also be nice if hatch line weight/colour and background colour could be defined by class. that way the same hatch could be used for both presentation and working drawings.
  7. We have a similar problem all the time with Survey's, thou i'm not sure how it would apply in imperial, as we use metric. if we use our normal default unit of 1 unit = 1millimeter the drawing comes in micro sized if we set 1 unit = 1 metre in comes in normal sized and with the right line wieghts you might need to try 1unit = 1 feet or a yard to see what works
  8. Given that both systems that VW runs on have come along way since the early Minicad days and can now do a lot of things like Transparent fills. It would be nice to get a general update the fill patterns to get better than the chunkiness of current and have transparent as a colour option. Having the means within the programme to produce simple bitmap 1/4inch square fills is very very useful.
  9. Jan15 this is what i end up doing half the time, even experimented with a couple of workspace set ups, to keep them simple or task based palettes. No matter how well you organise, digging the structure to find the that useful tool (or even symbols, hatches and textures) that you use one day a month, is still not as good it could maybe be. Chris D that's sort of what i was thinking, (well except getting anywhere near the command line :-) ) I was thinking more along the lines search function in apples mail programme. that as you type it adjust the relevance of items. ie if i type "stamp" in a alpha list it takes you near the items starting with "st..." but a better search would very quickly get you to "room stamp, number stamp, date stamp...." I was starting to think it could be a special mode to the resource browser?
  10. There are so many really cool tools in Vectorworks, like the stamp, that i don't use all the time and tend to get burried in a palette somewhere. They are not used enough to have key assignments. It would be nice if there was a way to quick find tool. say you could type a tool name or part of the name to find the tool.
  11. By "pc" every one seems to assume you mean a windows box. Maybe you should have a look at NNA's own system speed testing from the interview at www.architosh.com ( http://www.architosh.com/features/2004/g5-interview/2004-interv-g5nem-1.phtml ) them Mac G5's it seems are pretty fast running today to today Vectorworks, although test results don't included the newest 64 bit AMD or Intel Processors.
  12. the first idea is the best create a new user and give them admin rights. there should be a check box at the bottom of the users info when you log back in as the new user you should be able to go in and turn off admin rights for the orginal user if you want to. a good book is the "mac os x hacks" from o'reilly's it details all sorts of things like how to change user names
  13. the other trick is... colour pencils on nice art paper when scanned make great image fills, for use in presentation drawings.
  14. Why more than 5 cavities in a wall? try exiting double skin brick wall rendered outside and plasterboard lining on resilient mounted furring channels with insulation to the inside. I'd make that 5-8 cavities. if your working with existing buildings and need to improve fire rating or sound rating this is not an uncommon construction. But i think there are different improvement that could be made to the wall tool that could make this and other situtations easier to deal with.
  15. i think "non-linear" undos would indeed present a lot of problems, but being to multi undo with a single command to a named event would a great thing. even if it takes some time, knowing it will be back to where you want means you can use that waiting time for so many small productive things. instead of having to wait for each undo.
  16. and don't forget to mention the small new that dashed lines now make sure they have solid lines and start and end. it seems like a lot of small refinements as well as some cool new tools in the package. Recommended configuration would be nice info.
  17. While i'm actively moving the page frame i can use the arrow keys to move quickly around, as well, as with the mouse. it would be nice if shift- arrow could be used when actively moving a page. when your scrolled out far enough to see the whole page, the mouse or arrows key don't always offer fine enough control. not a big issue, as we don't move pages that often, but would be so handy when we do. best regards matt
  18. the old batch rendering tricks was just to export to Quicktime Movie at 1 frame per second then on the timeline set each saved sheet for the second marks. then pull each frame out of the movie to make JPEGs.
  19. One way that comes to mind. looking at the model in elevation, draw a curves for the fabric drapping between the beams. you should be able to extrude this to make the canopy. if you have renderworks and image tranperancy should give the canopy that filtered light look.
  20. but just to bring it back to the first point, why do are some of these lists Style 1, .... and others say Style-glazing-1,.... which given the way the programme handles classes, adding this mid name helps alot in tracking classes, so why hasn't it been applied to all Style pop-ups. so windows for example would have Style-Frame-... Style-Trim-... style-Glazing-... in the first instance this would be a great help.
  21. Indeed, it is important to be able control, and the system should be geared to help maintain an offices drawing standards as much as it can. (although i want to stop people adding past the 20 classes we use) personelly i think these sort of things should be combined into an improved workspace editor. not just for selection of which tools are in the workspace, but the default values of tools. That way we could have a number of workspaces for different stages and levels of work.
  22. ;-) i was wondering how long it would be before someone asked for this.... It Would be nice.
  23. yep that would good along with batch export to DWG and the like
  24. ekb, Which system you're using and VW version. the problem seems familar when i was using Mac Os9, in which case it was normally low memory on the printer background app. but this wouldn't apply to OsX per say, and it could mean any number of things on other systems. regards matt
  25. you can also use {$Debug} the debugger in VS is getting pretty good for walking though a script to check variables along the way. it very good for seeing what's really happening, and finding some of VS oddities. best regards matt
