  1. Update: If I remove all hatches, the thing speeds up noticeably, but there is still a long delay when switching from paperspace to model in Acad 2008. It also happens in Acad 2004 and in other PCs.
  2. I am having serious trouble with the files I am exporting from VW2008 to Autocad (different versions). The files leave Autocad almost unusable by periods, with long delays between model and paperspace. I have removed lots of info (hatches, images, etc) in order to make them lighter, but the problem happens in lots of computers. This didn't happen with VW 12 and now my work is almost incompatible with other offices. What can be the cause of this? Any recommendations? All are 2D plans and elevations or sections. Thank U.
  3. At the office we just bought an HP Deskjet 9800. Great printer, fast, and cheap, and it its capable of printing Tabloid and/or A3. It works great with our Intel Macs. Driver is included in Mac OS X 10.5 and works great.
  4. Quick Look is in my opinion one the best features of Apple's just launched OS. Will Nemetschek develop support for this feature? Thank you.
  5. Are there any news in this area for VW2008? Is Nemetschek working in a plugin for Mac OS X 10.5 in order to use Quick Look with VW files? As said in the initial post, it would be extremely useful!
  6. Does VW 12.x or 2008 have this tool? I need to put the lenghts of several arcs and can't find the right tool (in v12). Thank you.
  7. So it is posible? I was asking because in 12.5 it is not posible to check spelling or change cases in callouts.
  8. Wow... it seems I should consider upgrading... this would be very useful 4 me... Thank you 4 your input.
  9. Is it posible to create a viewport inside a design layer, not a sheet layer? I want to draw the elevations of a bathroom, and I need to rotate the plan four times to complete my work. I could make a symbol from the plant and rotate the symbol, but I would like to keep my plant as a "normal drawing". I would like to see all changes instantly in the viewport so I could update my elevations easily. Thank you.
  10. What about the zoom in VW2008? Is it faster?
  11. Very cool suggestions! I will try them and will post my experience. Thank you very much!
  12. I have also used VW on a MacBook (without external monitor) and it performs very fast. No complains.
  13. Is there any way to set as default the "Full break with caps" option when inserting doors and windows into walls? Thank you.
  14. Yes, if you use Boot Camp it is absolutely as having another PC in the office. I will try to install the ATi driver downloaded directly from ATi, although the Apple assistant already installed one.
  15. Here at the office I use VW 12.5.x on an iMac with a 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo processor and 2 Gb of RAM, with Mac OS X 10.4.10. It runs very fast, with no problems. As curious as I am, I installed Boot Camp on the iMac, and then Windows XP as there was an available license here. Then I also loaded AutoCAD 2008 and I installed VW 12 also, to try the behaviour. Suprinsingly for me, VW performs very slow in Windows, with long delays when panning and selecting tools. I found it unusable. In comparison, Autocad performs flawless, very fast, no delays, no problems. Why this happens? I understand an iMac and its video card are not workstation class, but since the performance is excellent in Mac OS X, I was expecting the same under Windows XP. Are the Apple supplied XP video drivers for the ATI Radeon X1600 not well developed? (I suppose this as many times the drivers are mentioned here as cause of slow performance). The video card should be more than enough since I also use a MacBook which has an Intel GMA 950 chipset with only 64 MB of shared VRAM and it also performs vey well in OS X (haven't tested the MacBook with XP). Any ideas or experiences with the same conbfiguration? Thank U.
  16. Is it posible to make a "progressive" duplicate array, for example to offset lines and simulate the curvature of a wall, instead of using a gradient as fill? Thank U.
  17. I think it all depends on what are you going to do. I work in an architecture and design firm, and we design restaurants, cafes, houses and offices and also exhibits and some furniture. We are mostly Macintosh based, but we also have some Windows PCs. None of the computers is a beast, and we can do our work fast enough. Right now I am using a 17" iMac and and for some personal projects I use my MacBook, sometimes with its own screen and others attached to a 17" LCD external screen. Of course one could think on an eight core Mac Pro or the equivalent Windows machine, but I think you really do not need to spend so much money. Unless you have it, and you plan to work on very big projects, with lots of 3D rendering and animations. For small projects, I think almost any current machine will do the work. I have 2 Gb of RAM and it makes a difference with computers with 1 Gb. Also, dual core processors make Renderworks work significantly faster. But for my not so complex modeling purposes, even the 64 Mb video chip of the MacBook has been enough. It is nice to have dual screens and a very powerful computer but it is important to know that Vectorworks does not need such an expensive machine to run fine. That are my two cents. Hope it helps. 18. Any input on this problem?
  19. Katie, that option is grayed out. On a file that imports successfully, it is also grayed out.
  20. Hello. I frequently run into a problem I've been unable to solve. When importing AutoCAD DWG files, many times dimensions import correctly, as dimensions, and I am able to edit them, resize them, etc. But several other times, they import as groups (of lines and text) and I have to re dimension many objetcs each time I make a revision. This happens using the same import settings for all files. I know there is an import option that allows one to convert dimensions into groups but I am certain this option is NOT selected when the problem arises. Curiosly, this happens constantly with the drawings of a specific office. Initially I thought the drawing was exploted, but checking in AutoCAD I see dimensions are efectively dimensions. In other drawings, everything imports perfectly. Has anybody had the same issue? Thank you.
  21. So it is not posible... I hope it will be included in a next release. Double clicking and editing is what I want to bypass. Thank you,
  22. Is it posible to change the capitalization of text inside callouts? I would also like to be able to find and replace text inside callouts. Is there any way? Thank you.
  23. Katie, tahnk you. I already contacted them and they suggested checking an option in the Preferences called "Use Software Open GL". It has worked for many files, but huge DWG files still crash or behave very slow. Anyway, the situation is better. But fot bigger files, the only option I have is to import them into VW.
  24. Weird thing! eDrawings used to work perfectly but now it is crashing in every machine here at the office, a mix of MacBooks, iMacs and Mac minis.
