  1. Thanks @Jeff Prince but unfortunately my file and all of the content within IS what is protected. Removing objects so that it's unrecognizable more often then not "fixes" the problem... not a helpful fix cause it means deleting my work!

I know it's frustrating. I run into this NDA issue a lot.

I'm running 2020 on MacOS 10.15.7 with. AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT graphics card 8GB of VRAM.

post your file and let’s have a look.  What version are you using?

I'm afraid my files are protected by an NDA so I can't post this specific file. Trying to "recreate" the issue with a new test file never yields the same results.

@line-weight come to think of it, you might be right in that it happens more frequently if I navigate back and forth from sheet to model space using the "edit design layer" in the drop down...

Close and re-open seems to fix it but yes... it's very frustrating.

  3. Thanks Jeff,

I think that you're probably right about it being a corrupt file... or something that didn't regenerate properly when I opened the file again after the crash. I've attempted in the past to adjust a file that was acting up to try and send through for others like yourself to take a look at but in doing so it usually "solves" the issue (probably deletes whatever was causing the issue in the first place). I think that I've been able to remove enough "identifiable" information to send through a file.

Pls see attached. Thanks! VW - Test File.vwx

  4. I'm having an issue with section viewports that were rendering fine until my program suddenly force quit. Now the viewports are appearing as white or blank in OpenGL. Elevations appear in hidden line. Edit section in place takes me to a blank model space although I can hover over objects so I know they're there (normally my model space background is grey - now it's stark white). Attached are some images to help describe what I'm experiencing. VW 2020 on 2020 iMac (pimped out) running Catalina.

  5. Thanks for your response. I don't know what you mean by Oriel Walls but this is also a film set so built a little differently (if that's what is confusing you)

But the reason behind the opening and window combo is that there is a "bench" below the window at a lower height than the window proper. it's the only way I could think of combining to get this effect. This same thing occurs with an opening in a wall (which I have between two rooms)

Turning the sill class off doesn't seem to change the appearance.

  6. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the lines that show up in a horizontal section cut if there is an "opening" in the wall? These lines make it appear as though there is a window which isn't the case. I've tried setting all window components to a class that is turned off but this hasn't worked. This is an opening... there should not be any lines appearing in plan!

attached is a screenshot of what I'm referring to. 1812925764_ScreenShot2021-05-31at3_21_24PM.thumb.png.c440a260adb3f05f7131e4f66644cd84.png

  7. is this when grabbing an object to move? I see it locking the axis but the object doesn't want to move...

EDIT:  Ok so I've messed with a few of my shortcut keys (can anyone advise which tool/key I should be searching for to reset it??

  8. @Kazemester Thank you for the suggestion... I definitely think this is a good workaround and has been working much better. However I'm still unclear as to how to rendering something so that it actually "glows".  For example, if you have a bare lightbulb... can you only achieve the glow if you transmit through a glass material?

    Thanks

  9. I'm having some issues generating area lights to that the whole object renders as a light and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring? I've attached an image of an object (profile with a 360 sweep) to be used as a string light but when I convert to area, it's very faceted. Is there a key to creating an area light that I'm missing?

    Thanks!
