  1. I find that it is only on the detailed sections that I can work out the details of the construction, so I use the Cut 3D Section to generate the line drawing of the sections, then I use details from my library if they are suitable, or I use detail components such as timber, flashings, gutters, etc. Here is the section where most of the work takes place: From this section I can generate the details on the foundation sheet: and here is one of the details.... I think that this is powerful... and quick...
  2. yes, I line up all ay elevations and sections. This makes it easy for me to make guide lines for things like floors, windows changes in materials etc. I found it was easier to place all the callout notes (i use notes from the database) and to copy the notes from one place to another. I would also put the elevation references (markers) and the elevation benchmarks in here too. Because all the elevations line up, you can turn on the automatic function for the benchmark and use it across all the elevations and sections... then I make viewports of elevations, sections and details from this layer...
  3. for working drawings I use 2D elevations and use one design layer for all elevations and sections. This layer has all the drawn information, dimensions and annotations...
  4. why in the annotations? I would put the benchmarks on the design layer.
  5. double click on the snap to grid constraint turn off print grid
  6. another way is to make a floor at 8? in a new layer, use the fit walls to roof and select the new layer as the layer to fit to.... That?s a quick and dirty way to get all the walls to the same height when you are finished, delete the new layer
  7. double click on the wall in question. This should select the 3D reshape tool. On the mode bar is a mode for removing wall peaks, the minus sign Click on the wall peak that you want to delete. My Architect Tutorial manual has a section of dealing with wall peaks and changing the height of the walls... available from my web site
  8. the interiorCAD demo that you downloaded will work with VectorWorks version 11.0.1, not 11.5
  9. if you want to scale a worksheet, you could place it on a design layer, then make a viewport of it, you should be able to scale the viewport to change the size of the worksheet
  10. I understand that interiorCAD for VectorWorks 11.5 has not beed released yet.
  11. the other option is to make yourself a custom title block. If you had my Architect manual making custom title blocks is covered in chapter 11...
  12. it should be in the object libraries folder of you VectorWorks folder...
  13. try a1 drawing border in the file: 00_Arch Sheets in the Resource Browser and it should be stored in the Object Libraries Folder of your VectorWorks Application folder..
  14. Rick, when you WGR a layer, you can use a layer link to give you exactly the technique that you are looking for in making things symbols.... I think that making the whole floor into a symbol will cause you trouble, and it could be difficult to edit.
  15. I use a screen capture program. There are several available. Do a search at ; http://www.versiontracker.com
  16. Adam, did you see my movie on drawing with sketch mode turned on? http://www.archoncad.co.nz/images/sketch.mov
  17. from the Menu bar choose: Page > Set Print Area.... on the dialog box is an option....
  18. David, think of sketch mode as way to help your clients see what you know is there. Often clients do not see what you want them to see because all the see is the finished drawing... Sketch is a great tool to help your clients understand the stage of the drawings. If it looks sketchy, then it is at sketch stage and they can see that it is a concept... turn off the sketch and the drawing is now in the next stage, developed design or working drawings. The client can see the change, and you can send them the bill for moving from one design stage to the other...
  19. i went to the web site and looked at the what?s new... there are heaps of new things...
  20. mike, try working in sketch.. http://www.archoncad.co.nz/images/sketch.mov
  21. sketch should be listed as a mode, near the top. Is this the standard workspace, or a customized workspace. try the Architect Workspace... If this is a customized workspace, then edit the workspace and add the sketch options...
  22. also, that movie I made about the 2D reshape moving PIO's.... it was made with 11.5 so that works now too...
  23. i tried a trackball, but it made my wrist sore. Before you get rid of the Microsoft mouse try my trick of swapping the mouse buttons. You will find that you can hold the in a more relaxed way
  24. the sketch rendering mode is so cool! Try drawing with sketch mode turned on, and leave it on!
