Vectorworks shouldn't be crashing. You would need to post your computer specs to troubleshoot this. Create a signature at the My Stuff link at the top, Edit Profile. Include your version of VW and computer specs including OS and graphics card make and drivers.
Try going to the properties of the Vectorworks.exe and check Run as administrator. Other than that I don't know, I've never tried to run VW on a standard user account.
Here is where the default textures that show in the OIP are located, this is for VW 2011, not sure if it applies to VW 2008:
C:\Program Files\Vectorworks2011\Libraries\Defaults\Renderworks - Textures\Textures_Default.vwx
They do have older versions of Quicktime for download. I don't have an install disk so I don't know what version comes with it, maybe someone else can check.
Try updating your video drivers.
It would help to have your computer specs to troubleshoot. Put that info along with your version of Vectorworks in a signature. Click on the my stuff link at the top, Edit Profile.

"Set up as website", I don't understand this.
Please be very descriptive on your problem, what you are doing and then exactly what happens. VW 2011 runs fine here on Windows 7.
Did you try right clicking>Force Select?
If you could post the file here it would be easy to troubleshoot. Or if you want to email the file to me let me know and I'll send you my email address.
