digitalcarbon
when modeling how do i get the siding of my wall to extend down over my "floor slab" and even over my foundaiton. also follow the grade. Quote Link to comment
Travis
The most accurate way to model siding is as its own "wall". This allows the siding to extend beyond the actual wall. . .as it would in real life. And has the benefit of providing the proper detail in section. Challenge is door, window and other openings. I would place a cased opening in the siding "wall" and set the casings to 0. The exterior casings on the windows and doors will need to accomodate the siding thickness. . .just as they will have to in construction. View your wall (siding wall?) in elevation (front or side view) and use the 3D editing tool to adjust the bottom line (including adding points) to follow grade. Good luck, Quote Link to comment
islandmon
If you desire to avoid hassles of the wall cut-out conflicts, then just create a representative 'skirt' to go round the foundation and match it to the bottom of the wall and the face of the foundation. Assign it to a class and turn it on/off as required. Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
it seems that there should be a way to set the individual wall components w/ their own z height or have a "foundation overlap" command that is like the "fit to wall" command. at any rate tahnks for you feedback!
