Copy item pastes to last clicked-on position

I copy an item and then then it pastes to the last clicked-on position. Instead of its original the position.

I understand why would this be useful, but it should have an override.

Ramon, there is "PASTE" and there is "PASTE IN PLACE". PASTE places the object in the center of the viewable area. PASTE IN PLACE places the object in the exact same X/Y location as it was copied from. Maybe you are using one instead of the other?

Also note that if you want to create an identical copy in the same location on the same layer, it's easiest just to click on the object while holding down control or command. (You'll see the cursor show a little + sign when you do so, which makes it more obvious what's going on.)

Thanks for the tips; just in case I'll reprogram my Command-V.

No need to reprogram. Just use option+command+V for paste in place. :-)

I think that may be a bit difficult to do that with one hand... I'm not Mozart, you know.

Ramon, If you have a standard Mac keyboard, OPTION and COMMAND are right next to each other. I hit these with my left hand and then hit the "V" with my right. I actually am a pretty good guitar player too :-)
