dsolutions
posted 05-26-2003 01:30 PM ??? ?? ? ?? ? ? ?? ?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Problem: I started a new project with 2 floors. I then setup my layers as req'd for the project. As with some projects, ended up adding another level (floor-3) thru the setup procedure. Got back my work and to my surprise The layers placement i had labored over to perfection reverted to the begining. What's up with that? Is there a way to stop this from happening? Please help!! I take it that no one want's to answer my question. I guess I should post one wish . Put V9 setup back in and fix it. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
zero
I hear you D... I wish there was a way to customise the setup commands, because as they are at the moment, it's only usable at the intial setuip of a drawing. If you want to add a another level to a building, or even another sheet to a file, it's quicker to do it manually. The setup commands have potential, and I think they have improved from version 9, but they still need work. I also think they need tighter integration with other VW tools, particularly the roof tool. If you use the setup commands, then when you later run the create roof command, there should be no "create roof in layer roof" option. That's just one example. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted June 12, 2003 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 12, 2003 This sounds like a bug to me. The best way to make sure it is fixed is to send an email describing the buggy procedure to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net . Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted June 12, 2003 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 12, 2003 PS -- As moderator of this site, I normally get email notification of all issues. I've just gone through my email and can't find this issue (posted 5/26). I apologize -- something must have temporarily broken in our notification system. I will contact the engineer in charge of the model setup commands to make sure he is aware of this problem, but it would be good if you posted to bugsubmit, also. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I've just come back from vacation and will look into this problem, but I need more information. Did you use Model Setup for the initial set-up of the new project? What were the initial settings of the 2 floors -- elevation, deltaZ, etc? Did you manually change the settings when you setup your layers as req'd for the project? What did you change them to? When you added the 3rd floor, what did the settings of the other 2 floors change back to? Tom Urie Nemetschek, N.A. Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
I have some other issues with setup assistant. It used to crash when I added floors or layers to a pre-existing file- but I think that has been fixed. The layer setup, though, is weks when it comes to working on a project that has existing conditions ('residential remodel'). Since I do alot of work on existing structures, there are no layers for existing walls (I end up using the 'mod-slab-' layers with corrected Z values), or classes for existing conditions (I modify one of the wall classes to 'wall-exst'). It is also difficult to do more than one schematic design for ether new construction or remodelling projects. I usually use the 'Sheet-FloorPlan-' for one design, and Sheet-Schemplan-'for another, with corrected Z values. It works, but its clumsy and takes some manual input time. I also use my own titleblock on its own layer, as I use special scripts for updating the drawing dates. I'm not there yet with the titleblock on each and every sheet. Otherwise, its a great way to set up a file really quick. Quote Link to comment
