ericjms 0 Posted February 16 Hi community, I was wondering if there is a way to subtract a portion of an extracted and deformed circle via the "subtract solid function"? What I'm attempting to do is to keep the shape but crop the back off. When I attempt to do this I end up destroying the original shape. Am I missing something? pics attached. Andy Broomell 1,081 Posted February 16 When you run the Subract Solids command and see the selection pop-up, try clicking the arrow buttons until the other object is highlighted in red. I suspect it's subtracting opposite of how you expect. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
TomWhiteLight 80 Posted February 20 OK so they both need to be either an extrude or a solid they must not be a group or symbol.. Try converting them to a solid first and then try the subtract command. If they are both solids try checking the box hat says retain and see if you can remove the piece you are looking for. You should also have a look in the 3d power pack menu as there will likely be a command in their which should work. Quote Share this post Link to post
Andy Broomell 1,081 Posted February 20 The screenshot makes it looks like some buggy deformation is happening. (It reminds me of when Mesh smoothing causes weird polygon artifacts on meshes that have holes in them). @ericjms Were you able to find a solution? Or, could you post a file with those two objects that you're working with? Quote Share this post Link to post
TomWhiteLight 80 Posted Monday at 09:04 AM Yes when two solids occupy the same space you will see that distortion. A subtract solids command should stop that from happening. Quote Share this post Link to post
ericjms 0 Posted Wednesday at 01:46 AM @Andy Broomell I'll circle back around to this topic again! Moving so I haven't had proper time to play around with this. Quote Share this post Link to post
