zoomer
Opened VW 2019 on Windows (To compare OpenGL vs VW 2020) Unexpectedly VW 2019 said there would be an Update. I started VW updater as usual and it wanted to Update the Updater first. Gave my password and after Updater restarted - it was all in Chinese language !? I wondered and quit Updater manually. Restarted VW 2019 and beside the nerving 2020 update hint (already installed since September) to dismiss - it said there is no Update for VW 2019. I checked in Explorer and all my VW 2019 Files in Updater Folder are from February 12 2020, is that correct ? (There are much more files that in the VW 2020 Updater Folder. So, is there a new VW 2019 Update and the Updater just failed in language settings, or are there any foreign powers trying to invade my Windows ? Quote Link to comment
Administrator JuanP Posted February 19, 2020 Administrator Share Posted February 19, 2020 @zoomer The latest available service pack for 2019 is SP6. We had an issue with the updater over the weekend but it was already fix. It is safe to update to the latest version. I apologize for the inconvenience. 1 Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Thanks a lot Juan for clearing things up. But how can I update. If I try update from help, beside offering VW 2020, VW 2019 SP 5.3 says it is up to date. If I start VW Updater from App Folder - it is in Chinese or whatever. And it looked like the Updater would now willing update itself. As there were 2 options only, white and green button. Took the green button and for me it "looks" like it updated itself successfully. Nevertheless 2019 SP5.3 still thinks it is up to date. Starting Updater manually ist still in Chinese. It may offer an upgrade to SP6 - I would have three buttons options now. but I can't know as my Mandarin got worse over the years 😉 2 white buttons blocked, the green on the left seams to be just "Cancel" Very likely that it will not accept my Serial # from cache - now in Chinese letters. But I don't know. And I don't want to update my VW to SP6 for the price of getting a Chinese Version. BTW What does "we had issues" mean ? Could be all from we got hacked, VW had a trojan, all user data no spread over the whole internet - to something less scary. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
@JuanP For me the Files in the Updater.exe's folder still look suspicious and I'ld like to clean those up and install VW 2019 SP6 completely over. But as far as I see VW Downloads latest offer VW 2019 SP5.2 only ? I assume that will moan when I try to install it over newer VW 2019 SP5.3 Is there a link to VW 2019 SP6 ? zoomer
I use the US Version. Quote Link to comment

zoomer
Thanks @JuanP that worked. VW is SP6 now. Updater Folder Files look the same but it is in English now. And it also survived another own "needs an update" and stays in English. Quote Link to comment

JMR
For some reason, in our office the machines that run Architect update to SP6, but those that run Designer don't: Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Will it also not work when the updater will be started manually from VW's App Folder ? After I installed VW SP6 from Juan's link, opened and checked VW, I opened the Updater manually and it haven had a new Update for the Updater. Maybe that Update is necessary that at least the Updater itself is able to see VW Updates, when VW itself can't see them. Quote Link to comment
JMR
The install file wants to do a complete VW reinstall, it seems. I Don't dare to do that now in the middle of a deadline. The updater still says VW is up to date, SP 5.3 US version here as well. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Yes, the full installer does a complete install. But that is no problem. Just takes some time 🙂 Quote Link to comment
JMR
Done now, no hiccups. Thanks. Weird though that the designers refused to update via the updater... Quote Link to comment
zoomer
Don't know if it was the updater or VW, seems both needed an update before recognizing they are outdated 🙂 Quote Link to comment
