acdeslx
Here's my challenge. I have a client who has given me AutoCad drawings of a venue in 2D. I've drawn a lighting plot in 3D using VW. I want to "place" my section view (right side, in this case) on the 2D section supplied by my client and be able to edit my drawing. I can't seem to figure out how to keep the 2d view visible and in place once I change to a non Top/Plan view in VW. I've tried switching off unified view and align layers but none of those seem to work. Rotating my plot in 3d space to make the top the right-side seems way to messy a way to do it. I've thought about viewports but wouldn't that prevent me from editing my plot in realtime? Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
I recommend doing the opposite. Take a copy of the client's section, convert the objects to layer plane, place them on their own layer and rotate the section into place in 3d space. I usually align it on the centreline. I do this all the time and its quite successful. It allows you to see the real world relationship. It can also be presented as a section quite easily on a sheet layer by layering two viewports - an actual section cut of your 3d work and a 2d side view of their rotated section.
