nsda
We have a drawing that is very crash prone. It contains an drawing that was converted from AutoCad 14 (it has been cleaned up after conversion, everything "maps out" in VW as it should.) Anyway, the drawing will crash VW (10.1, and 10.5, both Windows 98/2000 and Mac OS 10.2.8) 100% of the time if we: 1. Replace a symbol or 2. Gray other classes or 3. Change a saved sheet Opening the drawing after the app crash results in a a C++ Library Runtime Error on our PCs, and another speedy crash on our Macs. The document is now corrupt and forces us to re-create our work, (very nervously) from an old, "pre-corruption-ed" backup. ???? we're stumped... Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
nsda, no guarantees, but, every once in while you can fix a corrupt file by cutting and pasting all of the data, one layer at a time, into a brand new document. Good luck. I've been there and I know it's no fun... Peter Quote Link to comment

matto
We have had a lot of success if the workgroup reference approach, as it doesn't really open the corupted file, it just reads it. Just make sure to cut the reference after but keep the info once it is in the file. if you can leave the ACAD import layer behind. Then you should make a back up of this and purge un-used objects. And there is no way to recover the saved sheets. so you need to rebuild them. Quote Link to comment
MikeN
I'll second the workgroup reference process....works like a charm. By the way, do you work at NSDA or is just a coincidence that your name relfects that of the storied Vancouver firm of Neale Staniszkis Doll Adams? If you do work there, Pete and or Geoff at Resolve should be able to assist you if you run into further problems. Also, please pass on my regards to Brian, Garth, Jolene and Co.
