Phil hunt
morning is it better to export a PDF from a layer or a viewport just created a simple floor plan and exported from a design layer, are there any advantages of exporting from a viewport my plan was created in wireframe with some solid fills thanks Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 21, 2017 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 21, 2017 Generally viewport gives you a bit more control if the scene is rendered, as you can choose whether you want to update the renderings during export or not via a checkbox, but if it's just plan drawings then unless you need to separately scale various areas of the page then exporting from the design layer should be fine. Both methods let you control the quality via the DPI option with sheet layer DPI. (The sheet setting overriding the export dialog setting I'm fairly certain.) Quote Link to comment

Jim Smith
This may have to do with some settings I'm not too sure. In situations where I have Grey Layers or Classes in a Viewport I find Print-Save AsPDF, from a Sheet View gives me a more true representation as opposed to Publish-Sheets-As PDFs . So I often have one or two Sheets that have to be added to the PDF set after Publishing. Quote Link to comment
