Symbols not going to correct class

So in my symbol library, I have whatever symbol I need to use on a job.  Now when I drag something out of it into my drawing, some will go to the correct class that I had assigned it when I initially created it, while others will not.  Is there anything that I can do, other than manually assigning the class every time, or making that class my default class?  I just don't understand why it works for some and not others.

Try right clicking the Symbol, choosing Edit Symbol Options, and making sure that "Assign to Class" has the desired class chosen. Otherwise it'll be inserted onto the <Active Class>.

Thanks!  I opened up the library file and assigned it like you said under Symbol Options.
