Old dog switching from VW 12 to 2013 - new cursor is driving me nuts

Cant seem to limp along release 12 any longer and I hate change.  Have had 2013 for several years but always avoided switching over.  The cursor in 2013 has several distracting icons popping up plus white cross hairs when close to end point etc - I find it all very distracting and annoying  - I just want the pointer.  I have everything switched off as per attached pic but still have all these reference lines, loci etc showing up.  Any help is appreciated -

It may be snapping indicators that are showing up, hard to know without a screen shot of what's happening.

 

Take a look at this 2017 Help page on Snapping, it is probably similar to what you're seeing in 2013: Concept: Snapping Indicators - Vw2017 Help

 

Turn off your snaps and see if they go away, then you can turn back on the snaps you want until you get a hang of things. HTH.

You want to adjust smart cursor settings which is shortcut with command + 8 I think (not at my computer right now) it's not in settings but part of the pull down menus in your main viewport.

Thanks all for the help- the smart cursor settings helps a lot to clear the clutter and will follow up on the link from rdesign tomorrow am.

Am getting closer - Is there any to turn off the snap point indicator - (I run a black blackground)that is the white cross hairs that come up when in proximity to a snap point?

Take a look at this Help page on 'Configuring Interactive Display' (it's for 2015 but should be similar to 2013).

 

Under Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences, on the Interactive tab click 'Interactive Appearance Settings' and you'll find a section for SmartCursor.

 

I think you're seeing either the Selection or Snap box. You can change the size of the Selection and Snap Boxes, but I don't think you can turn them off without turning off snapping altogether.
