krw
is there a way to rotate the drawing window, say to draw an elevation of the end of a building ? I don't want to permanently rotate the drawing, Quote Link to comment
Kristen
You could create a layer link of your plan to your elevation layer, and rotate the layer link. Then when you're done drawing your elevation, you could just delete the link. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Copy the end of the building you want to use, paste it to another layer, rotate it, do your elevation, delete the plan. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
HERE'S HOW I DO IT: 1) Select the entire floor plan, hold the option key and click the mouse to "duplicate in place". Hit Command (control) "G" to group the plan. 2) With the new group stil selected, go to EDIT>CUT 3) Go to a new layer (Elevations?) and then to EDIT>PASTE 4) Draw first elevation by tracing or extending lines, rectanlges, etc, for the floor plan group 5) For the other three elevations, duplicate the floor plan group and then move it and rotate it. As an aside, I usually draw my elevations, all lined up horizontally (so that it's easy to pull lines across from one to the other) and ABOVE or BELOW the actual sheet. Then later, I copy each one and group it, and drag it to it's final presentation location. I find that if I have to go back and make changes, it save an enormous amount of time to do the changes to the original (lined up) elevations. Hope that helps. Have fun!
