Diego - Resuelvector
Is there a way to extract the volumen of a Stair? When I tried to do a Report or using a worksheet to obtain a volume, the result is always 0. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I don't think there is going to be an easy way to get the volume. The Stair object does not have a record that can be easily accessed giving the dimensions, so it will even be difficult to calculate it yourself. The worksheet Volume command seems to give very strange answers. Or perhaps I don't understand the units. I created a stair 4'0" wide x 10'0" floor to floor with a walk line of 15'0" and get a volume of 7300.91. This is reasonably close to the number I get in a cube with those dimensions in Cubic Inches (7200). Hopefully someone else can give you a better answer. Quote Link to comment
AlanW
Setting up this spreadsheet to calculate the volume was interesting. The actual volume appears to relate to the handrail volume and not the stair. Turn off the handrail and recalculate and you get 0. The units are cub m as seen by the cube calc. Maybe someone can define the actual stair criteria for the search. Stairs.vwx Edited September 23, 2016 by Alan Woodwell Quote Link to comment
Diego - Resuelvector
Yes, I've got similar results, my thinking is, if you ungroup the stair is basically a Mesh object, so I think the only way to obtain the volume would be to model the stairs with extrudes, too bad and time consuming... AlanW
So one way was to extract the edge of the stair and convert to polygon so you have the area then multiply by width. Other was to explode and then you can get volume of the generic solid. HTH Untitled1_v2016.vwx Quote Link to comment
