Layers lose their Opacity

colin harwood

Question

Hi you lot,

I have a BIG drawing, about ten layers, all drawn in one class. Loads of hatches. 95MB (I told you it was big), its an art illustration for a client. I worked through layer by layer to tidy it all up and help manage the drawing BUT on drawing down the 'View' menu and selecting Show, Snap Modify all layers, it promptly shows all layers at about 50% opaque.

Then I then try to analyse each layer on its own, but though it shows the drawing 50% opaque on screen (translucent) , double clicking each layer from the drop down menu suggests that Vectorworks2016 has made the layer permanently translucent when I need it fully opaque (i.e. 100% non translucent [opaque is a hugely wrongly used word here in England so sorry to spell it out!])

Is this a well-known glitch? has it been cleared up in a recent update?

Any advice gratefully received, (I CAN think of a way out - cut and paste each layer individually onto a NEW drawing seems to restore the opacity but its taken 2 weeks to get the drawing to this state and I was hoping for a quick solution) -

cheers,

Colin

First off, I assume you have checked all the opacity settings on both layers and "The" class in the Organisation Dialogue box? Has this only just happened?

(can you create a signature for yourself on this forum with details of which version of VW2016 you are using and what OS etc you are using as well)

Thanks, Mark.
