jakeington
I'm new to Vectorworks so please forgive my ignorance. I working in Spotlight Educational version 2016. I can't seem to get the color field option to work in my document. I checked 'Use color field for the fill color' in Spotlight preferences but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Confusingly it DID work in an earlier document. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
Benjamin Weill
In order to have the gel number displayed you have to: A) have a label legend assigned to the light. The label legend has to have "color" as an active field in it. B) make sure that the class "label-color" is on. The check-box of "use color as fill" means that the symbol will change color in the drawing based on the gel you've chosen. For example, if you enter R26 into the color field, then the lighting symbol should turn red. Quote Link to comment
markdd
Actually you don't necessarily need the above. What you need is for the instrument to be assigned to a class that has the solid fill attribute enabled. Mark Quote Link to comment
jakeington
Thanks for your help guys. Benjamin - I'm pretty sure I've tried all these steps. Mark - could you give me a little step-by-step or tell me where I can find one to be sure I'm doing it right? Many thanks, Jake Quote Link to comment
jakeington
Also: I tried a new document and it works okay. The one I'm having trouble with is a template from another Lighting Designer (which is otherwise very useful). It must be a setting he created but I don't know how to undo it (and he's not around to ask). Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted February 11, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 11, 2016 The lighting instrument symbols must have the light info attached in order for the modification setting to work properly. We need the information to identify which part is the lighting fixture. Quote Link to comment
markdd
Make sure your Lighting Instrument is assigned to a class with it's solid fill enabled. I use a Class called LIGHTS and I have Solid Colour set to White, and Pen settings of Solid and .35 as well. As long as the class that the fixture is assigned to has a solid fill enabled, then you should be fine. I make sub classes for my lighting fixtures which helps as well Take a look at the attached drawing Quote Link to comment
jakeington
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help. I'm sure I've followed all these steps but still no joy. As everything works okay in a new drawing I'm wondering if there's a bug in the one I'm working with. It's a template of the theatre so it's a real pain if I have to discard it. Quote Link to comment
