Ethan R.
Am I crazy - or is my option to "redefine" a saved view missing now in 2016 sp2 Mac ?? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 26, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 26, 2016 You should be able to EDIT a saved view, but I am unfamiliar with "Redefine"-ing a saved view as a tool or command. Where were you seeing it before? The editing interface for saved views in 2015 seems to match 2016s on my end. Quote Link to comment
Ethan R.
That is what I am talking about - If I edit - it does not redefine the actual "View" - only the saved properties (Layers / Classes / etc ...) ... there used to be a "redefine" button (I think?) that would only change the actual VIEW (the what you were looking at) ??? Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 26, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 26, 2016 I have checked back to 2014, I do not see any "Redefine" control at all. As far as I was aware, the way this was done was by entering the saved view directly, then saving changes over the original. Though It may simply have been something I never noticed if it was in an older version. Quote Link to comment
Ethan R.
that is part of my "Being Crazy" ... LOL As a workaround - I'm reserving the view over the old one. 1) Click Saved View 2) Redefine View 3) Save view with same name works enough Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
"Redefine" exists ONLY in the Navigation Palette on the Saved Views tab, by right-clicking on a Saved View. I agree that it should be easier to do. Also, if you have Fundamentals (and therefore no Nav Palette), you have to save a new Saved View with an identical name to overwrite it. Redefine should exist in the view bar dropdown for Saved Views as well! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted January 26, 2016 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 26, 2016 Never even knew it existed, and I've been doing this for 10 years, lol. Submitting request now. Quote Link to comment
TDWrks
I didn't know abt the redefine in the nav palette either... thanks! by happenstance, I've got two separate files that are resetting my saved views at random-- classes, layers, etc ok, just the "view" and render setting. Not sure if this is a sign of a corrupt file, but I've worked around by creating new saved view with same name, but it has happened a couple of times now. Feeling like I need to copy objects into a clean file, but I'm hesitant to do so since I've modified from my standard template quite a bit and don't want to create more work. Any insight would be appreciated! Quote Link to comment
