Maybe it’s time for an overhaul of the “Data” tab of the “Object Info Palette?” Currently, to update the record format data for a symbol, it’s necessary to: 1.) Select the object; 2.) Activate the OIP and/or Data tab; 3.) Select the correct Record Format; 4.) Select the Record Field; 5.) Pull up (expand) the Record Info “window” for each new session of Vectorworks; 6.) Place the cursor in the Record Info window and enter the data. Phew.
First and foremost, it would be nice if the “Record Info” fields were blank boxes (ideally white against a background color) right next to the “Record Fields” (“Field Names”) that they correspond with, with the ability to tab through them. The Field Names themselves would be text (against the background color) that clearly can’t be edited.
Ideally the Record Format attached to the symbol would be pre-selected (or at least one would be pre-selected if more than one are attached) after selecting a symbol.
And it would be great if you could right-click on a symbol and have immediate access to its Record Format Data in a floating palette… VWIS063
