Referenced Viewports and classes

Hi,

I have a house plan as a referenced viewport from another separate file and I have 2 viewport one with electrical information on it and the other the base plan. I want to turn off the electrical in one viewport and not the other which you can do in any other normal viewport BUT when you adjust any class in any of the viewports it affects all the other viewports.

What am I missing. Normally you can copy one viewport and change the classes but not so in a referenced viewport.

Any ideas,

Thanks

Also it seems that the class in the Xref viewport is overridden by the class in the final drawing. So I have walls set at 0,35 in the original house drawing but in the final drawing are set at 0.05 because i don't want the walls in 3d elevation to show at 0.35.

There is a thing when you change the class in the viewport which says "do not update from source object" but it seems not to override this.

You need 2 viewports into the same referenced file. Then they can have different class settings.

I've used one basic viewport with the stuff that doesn't change and some that have only the class to turn off. The single class viewports go onto classes for view control.

If classes have the same name then VW will override the imported settings. You can also override class settings in the viewport itself. There is a lot of related controls here. I suggest reading the manual carefully and doing some simple tests to really understand it all.

Thanks, you are certainly right about the "There is a lot of related controls here" and I will certainly have to dig deeper as this hopefully will give more value to doing a 3D model and using Design Layer viewport referencing for multiple building or similar items.
