0 Andy Broomell
The notion that you can't have instances of the same symbol that are colored differently has bothered me as well. In my opinion, what we need is for attributes to have an additional option: BY SYMBOL. This would push attributes of the parent-level symbol onto objects within the symbol that are set to listen. I believe it would be like the '0' layer in AutoCAD, or ByBlock attributes. Then you could have two instances of the same pipe symbol. One could be set to grey and the other to purple, simply by selecting the symbol instance and changing the fill color in the attributes palette. This functionality should also work for textures. We already have By Class. We should also have By Symbol. Quote Link to comment
0 digitalcarbon
i was thinking that the time feature could be also assigned to anything. like footings, then foundation wall, or any object an not just symbols then you could "play" a movie that builds the model in front of you or VW viewer could run the movie to show others.
