michael john williams
When importing a dwg file into a new vectorworks file the following error comes up: DWGdirect Library Error 42: The dwg file is an autocad file of window details. My version of vectors architect is 2010. I have tried several times now and its driving me wild. Any help appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Check the version of the dwg. It might be newer than supported by Vectorworks 2010. If that's the case, ask the dwg creator to save a copy to a version supported by your software. If it's not proprietary perhaps I can open the dwg in v2015 and save the vwx back to v2010. But that is inefficient if you are round tripping files often. -B Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 3, 2015 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 3, 2015 It is almost always the version of the DWG causing the problem. Any ACAD version 2011 and later will likely cause this unless its saved back as suggested above. Quote Link to comment
michael john williams
Thank you - your advice was good and your help sorted the problem out. I used by free copy of autocad trueview and converted the file into an older version and the dwg then imported nicely. Quote Link to comment
