Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 1, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) How long is it taking? I'm seeing 20sec on my Mac and 7sec on my Windows machine for 2015 SP2. Is this initial launch after a reboot or even restarting Vectorworks on its own? ^Misread initial post. The subject referred to launch time but the post referred to opening the Workspace dialogs. On my machines it takes 4 seconds to open Workspace Editor on Windows and 5 seconds on my Mac. Maybe 1.1 seconds to open just the the "Workspaces" dialog. How long is it taking specifically on your end? Edited December 1, 2014 by JimW Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I missunderstood. It takes very long to open the edit a "Workspace" window. Or to open Options Window for Stairs, Doors and Windows. And yes, opening VW itself takes long too. At least on OS X. Edited December 1, 2014 by zoomer Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 3, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 3, 2014 Thats extreme. On your machine, with Vectorworks closed, perform the following steps to back up and then wipe your prefs: Do this: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/885/Backing+Up+Vectorworks+Preferences (You can simply back them up to a folder on the desktop for the test) Then: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1099/Resetting+Vectorworks+Preferences Then, reboot the machine and try launching Vectorworks. Tell me if it takes the same amount of time, more, or less. Quote Link to comment
joerg
Done all that! 45seconds now! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 5, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 5, 2014 This is even with no other applications running? That is an extremely long time. If you create a new user account in this manner as a test: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/805/Creating+a+New+User+Account+%28Mac+OSX%29 then try launching Vectorworks both the initial time (which may ask for your serial number) and then a second time, is it just as slow? joerg
it seems to be much faster than, but i didn't move my workspace etc. and i didn't do the online activation to prevent any trouble ... Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted December 12, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 12, 2014 More activations won't be used up on a new account as long as its on the same hardware. It will see that its the same machine and not take up another one. If you DO move your workspaces and whatnot into the new account and the slowness comes back, then they might be the cause. I suggest trying just workspaces and see if thats the culprit. If you have large numbers of resource libraries added to your resource browser, that can significantly slow launching as well.
