megan walker
Still new to vectorworks, and not quite at presentation quality rendering, so would like to finish off in photoshop. Is there a way to export the file so it will retain layers when opened in photoshop? I've tried exporting as a PDF with layers, but it flattened when opening in photoshop. Tried eps - all one layer. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted October 3, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2014 Hi Megan, You can only export renderings from Vectorsworks as PDFs or image files. Either way you're going to get a "flattened" image. Quote Link to comment
megan walker
Does it make a difference if it is simply 2D lines and fills? Can those layers be imported to photoshop? Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
hi, megan. this and something similar (exporting viewports with transparent backgrounds that can be overlaid in imaging software such as photoshop) has been wish listed. maybe it will come. but now it is not possible. cheers. Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted October 3, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2014 Currently the only way is to import the images then manually remove the unwanted colors/fills in Photoshop, there is no automated way of doing it yet nor a way to export alpha channels from Vectorworks. If you make the background fill a dramatically different color from the rest of your file within Vectorworks, the color is more easily subtracted in Photoshop normally, but that has to be done after export.
