Bruce Kieffer
Seems to be a problem highlighting selected objects on the screen of my MacBook Pro 15" Retina. I select a bunch of small objects, and only some of them are highlighted. Zoom level does have an effect. I think it's Vectorworks not addressing the resolution of the Retina display properly, and it certainly is annoying and harder to work. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Tech support confirmed this is a known bug. OMG... I'm amazed how many issues I encounter in my workflow that end up being bugs. Quote Link to comment

Kevin McAllister
Bruce, I think its because there are more Mac related bugs. I've reported tons of them and I'm running a similar MacBook Pro. Kevin Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 6, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) You are very correct. Specifically MBPs with retina displays or multiple monitors in the last year or so. Edited February 6, 2014 by JimW Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Jim, You slay me! I do think it's because of the type of work I do that I seem to expose many bugs. It's too bad because it does really slow me down. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted February 7, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 7, 2014 To get thoughtful for a moment, there seem to be certain personality types that are predisposed to finding bugs. Mainly people who NEED to know how something works or why something happens, on a very base level. They learn what every setting of every tool they use does and experiment with them to see how far they can go. The opposite end of the spectrum are the users who come across a tool, try to use it, and if it doesn't do anything immediately obvious they remove it from their workspace never to be seen again. They stick to the basic palette, draw walls with the double line tool, and never come across any bugs at all. Quote Link to comment
Brookems
I just read this and am suddenly feeling very nervous about my switch to a MacBook Pro 15" retina display ( from a PC). I just got the computer and plan to get VW Landmark up and running tomorrow. I also plan to use it with an external monitor. The main reason I got this computer, over others, was because I thought the graphics and i7 would be so beneficial for VW. Am I going to regret this decision? Any tips on what to do to avoid the many bugs you mentioned? Thanks, Brooke Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Brooke, No matter which platform, computer, or version of Vectorworks, you will always have bugs to deal with. They won't stop you from working, they only slow you down. My MacBook Pro 15" Retina is the finest computer I've ever owned. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
I agree. I love my 15" retina Macbook Pro. Kevin Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I'm having the same problem today with my iMac. I have a bunch of short lines end-to-end, and when I select them the highlighting goes away. This is slowing me down greatly. It's something that needs to be fixed. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 30, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 30, 2014 The same issue happens after a complete reboot? Does it happen in multiple files or only one? Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Rebooting has no effect of change. Happens on any file. It happens when there are very short adjoining lines. I notice it when I convert a hidden line render of shaped objects to lines, move the lines to another layer, and then select multiple adjoining lines. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted April 30, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 30, 2014 I checked with a few engineers, it is being actively addressed and tracked now by them, but I do not have an official date for the fix yet. Quote Link to comment
