joshtreverton
Hi All, I am creating a door PIO (will be free to everyone once complete) and I was wondering if there was a way to to have architraves which project out from the hole in the structural opening without creating a larger hole in the wall. The built in Doors can do this but I am unsure how to do it. Thanks, Joshua Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted April 3, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 3, 2013 Hi Joshua, I haven't done this, but I think "SetCustomObjectWallHoleGroup" will do what you need. objectHand: Handle to parametric object. holeGroup: Handle to object or group that contains geometry for wall hole. FUNCTION SetCustomObjectWallHoleGroup ( objectHand :HANDLE; holeGroup :HANDLE ) :BOOLEAN ; Quote Link to comment
joshtreverton
Thanks Matt, I got the SetCustomObjectWallHoleGroup to work as intended, however my problem is trying to get it to work in Plan 2D view... Does anyone know how to do this? Cheers, Joshua Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted April 3, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 3, 2013 Ok. So it's the 2D TopPlan view wall opening. I would try placing 2 loci (one at each side of the desired wall opening) in the PIO. I have not done this with a PIO, but I think it would work the same as it does with loci in symbols. joshtreverton
The Loci makes the cut as intended, however as soon as I try to have the architrave outside the loci the hole in the wall then streches to the outer limits of the architrave... I'm pretty sure that I am just missing a trick or something... Cheers Matt Joshua. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted April 3, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 3, 2013 The wall should look for 2-2D Loci to cut the wall. If they are not there then it will use the other geometry. Just make sure you are not placing the loci in a group or other container. Quote Link to comment
joshtreverton
Just the ticket, thanks Kevin! The loci where in a group so weren't working as they should, now the loci work as intended. Josh Quote Link to comment
