Just installed version 2013 and was hoping an old annoying problem I was having with 2012 would go away. Nope! I get the spinning beach ball whenever I exit a group or switch back and forth between open files. It spins for about 30 seconds or so. I know that doesn't sound like much. but it's very disruptive. Is anyone else having this problem. I don't have a slow Mac. I don't have lots of things open.

do a disk repair preferably by firewiring your computer to an other mac in target mode

a hard drive cannot do a full repair on itself a better result is achieved by using another mac or external startup drive or even an usb stick with OS.

Gotta disagree.

I get the SBOD in 2012 on my MB Pro, even with a newly installed and formatted HD and fresh install of Lion and VW.

It was a suggestion that possibly fixes the problem, as you can see I have 2 different iMacs of which neither show this problem.

How much RAM does your Mac have?

Some things to try:

1. Restart

2. Repair disk permissions

3. Buy & run DiskWarrior.
