Christiaan
Am I right in saying we have no way of creating live three-point perspective sections in v2012 (or any arbitrary 3D section view for that matter)? The only options appear to be either one-point perspective with a Section Viewport or resorting to deprecated and static Cut 3D Model command. Quote Link to comment

You can make a section viewport on a design layer and set the view to anything you want. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Great, thanks, I thought I'd done it before somehow. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
How do you show the wall components and objects you've cut through as solid? Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
I think you first set the SectionVP to assume the class properties and then set the class fill to be black or grey or what ever you want......try that. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Not sure this is exactly what you want, but you can also choose oblique cavalier views for a section vp. And you can (sort of, by trial and error) control the angle of the view by the length and placement if the section line (I think that center of line = center of view). Quote Link to comment
mar schrammeyer
You mean this? Set up design layer section VP go to top plan set up camera set up sheet VP Edited February 1, 2012 by mar schrammeyer Quote Link to comment

Christiaan
Thanks guys. Vincent, how have you gone about modelling your roof? Have you used the roof face tool for the structure and then something else for whatever your finish is, or have you used roof face for that too? Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Merging is not working for me. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
Merging is not working for me. The section objects just doesn't show in certain render methods. It's a bug for me and I have listed this a long time ago. Was in v2011. Quote Link to comment

A combination, the 'top' is Roof Face, the rest is extruded polygons with skylights subtracted and windows placed as symbols.......this is not a very complicated roof but required quite some work as you can imagine! Farookey
Hi... Silly questions Christians... but... 1. Is your class 'Section Style' visible in the drawing? and 2. If it is, does it have fill (and pen) attributes set to something other than 'None'? It SHOULD show up in the rendered view you have... from an example I tried any ways... Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Try without wall components showing...... Didn't work. Interesting that slab and wall components aren't showing even though I had that option on though... Silly questions Christians... but... 1. Is your class 'Section Style' visible in the drawing? and 2. If it is, does it have fill (and pen) attributes set to something other than 'None' Not silly, but 1 and 2 are as they should be. The section objects just doesn't show in certain render methods. It's a bug for me and I have listed this a long time ago. Was in v2011. Suspect you're right, although changing render mode to say OpenGL didn't work. Perhaps something to do with it being a Design Layer Viewport? Quote Link to comment
Farookey
Strange... If it works for me, it SHOULD work for you, right? And it seems to work for me in any render mode... (those I've checked, at least) To confirm though... Have you upgraded your Service Pack to SP2? Your specs show SP1. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I think that might just be it, thanks. It's working at home now. I'm on SP2 at home but I haven't updated at work because I'd seen some comments from people who had run into a few problems with SP2. Looks like its time to updated the work machines. Christiaan
Was going to give up as it wasn't working in OpenGL on my work computer even though I updated to SP2! Then I changed the OpenGL options to show planar objects. One of those Vectorworks need-a-pilot's-licence-to-operate-it problems. Quote Link to comment
