Clad Columns

Is there a good way to make clad columns using the wall tool? To add cladding to a wall that projects or a column now I either add a poly or a grouped wall, neither is really a good option. Any advice?

Could you use a Pillar...?

Or draw the wall longer and use a Pilaster?

BTW, I've just finished my Guide to Productivity that has movie on using the Pillar command to join awkward walls.

Thanks Jonathan, I've only ever used the Column not the Pillar, I will give that a try.

Jim,

If the Column is embedded in the Wall and you want to surround it, use the Pilaster tool. It is just like the Column tool, but meant for just this situation.

Perhaps I'm not understanding this process. If one has a faux column or decorative feature that sits proud of a wall drawing this accurately is time consuming, & I don't think it should be.

There is not really a column, but I have 4 wall types that come together to make this condition & they don't really play nice with one another. Short of making a wall for each assembly is there a way to make this so it looks like what I can draw by hand in about 22 seconds?
