D Wood
I am drawing sections of a house in 2D (sketch plan stage) and want to show sunlight at midsummer and midwinter, entering the door and clerestory window on one side and crossing the side wall. I'd like to be able to draw a filled shape for each and colour them differently, but they need a degree of transparency so the area common to both shows as a third blended colour. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how that might be done in VW? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
With 2009 you could use the OPACITY setting.... With 12.5.3 you *might* be able to use a very diffuse HATCH, with unfilled background. But really OPACITY settings would work so much better ;-) Quote Link to comment
gmm18
You should be just fine in 12.5, at least on a Mac. But you can only control the Opacity (Transparancy) of entire Design Layers, not individual objects. Put your sunlight shapes on a separate Design Layer than your section sketch. Then Edit that Design Layer properties to adjust the opacity. I did this example image in 12.5.3 When you edit the Design Layer opacity for the first time in a file it comes up with the following warning, so as long as you are aware of this there should not be a problem. D Wood
Brilliant! Just what I wanted. I had to make a Saved View for the 2 layers to show properly, but it works just fine. Thanks for the tip. Quote Link to comment
