Robby54
I am trying to create (in Vectorworks 2008) a conical roof or witch's hat and it's framing plan with a 4' radius, 1' o/hang, and a 14:12 pitch without any success. To complicate more, it is partially intersecting (approx 50%) a hip roof with equal pitch. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. Quote Link to comment
B.Balemi
Hi Robby So I dont assume can you sketch in plan your roof and walls. Are you wanting the framer tool to work as well? Picture speaks a thousand words thingy. Regards Brendan Edited October 6, 2008 by B.Balemi Quote Link to comment
bonus
Draw a circle with wanted radius. In AEC (provided you have Architect) menu go to "create roof". Set pitch etc and the conical roof will be drawn. You will be able to use the model tools "substract solids" and "add solids" to join the two roofs. The final roof will not be intelligent anymore, meaning you will not be able to edit any settings in the roof menu. Beware - VW (even 2009)is not able to edit the pitch of a cone roof anyway. It's too complicated.....?! Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Robby, before invoking the Create Roof command set the 2D resolution to Very High first as this will give you the most segments (32) and therefore the smoothest roof. Enter the Roof Pitch in degrees. You can remove the required portion of the Roof Object by Editing Group. Then draw (or paste) a polygon for the area of roof you don't want. Bonus, VW 2009 (and VW 2008) can edit the pitch of the 'cone' roof in one step. You just need to make sure you put a checkmark against the Entire Roof option. Quote Link to comment
