JRod
Hey Everyone, When I export a couple of my plots in PDF some objects in one of my layers turn gray. To my knolage they are not gray in VecterWorks. ericjames
I am having the same problem. Whenever, I try to make a PDF some of my lines turn gray. The same problem happens whether I use the "EXPORT to PDF" command or if I simply print to Adobe PDF. I have checked the PDF files on two different computers and both of them are showing the lines as gray. The interesting thing is that only angled lines are gray. All of the lines that run vertical or horizontal are black, but all other lines are gray. I'm using Designer 2008 (spotlight workspace) on a PC with XP Pro. I would appreciate any advice Quote Link to comment
JeffPPI
Have you checked your line weights? a .05 line can look gray because there's not much of it there. Quote Link to comment
ericjames
I increased the line weights of the diagonal lines to as much as .50, this helped slightly, but they were still grayed compared to the horizontal and vertical lines at .05 Quote Link to comment
M.CH
If I am right you will find that the layer options default is grey/snap others Is that what you are experiencing? Quote Link to comment
ericjames
My layers are set to show/snap others and the same problem is still happening Quote Link to comment

ericjames
I have attached 3 files. The actual vectorworks file that I am working with and the 2 pdf files that I created. The first was made with the export command and the second with "print to pdf". Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I can't duplicate the problem. I opened your file and did Export as PDF. The resulting PDF was black as it is supposed to be. Have you tried restarting VectorWorks and/or your PC? Quote Link to comment
ericjames
I've restarted a couple of times. I also updated from VectorWorks SP2 to SP3, and I am still having the same problem. Did the PDFs that I attached look normal? Or did you see the gray problem in the PDFs? I am open to any other suggestions anyone can provide. Thanks Eric Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The Exported PDF shows the house lights in grey. The Printed PDF seems to be OK. I don't have any other suggestions other than a corrupted file. Do you have a lot of viewports in this file? If not, try creating a new file and referencing in all the layers from this file and then break the link. You will have to recreate the sheet layers and viewports manually, but it may remove the corruption as well. Good Luck, Pat Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
I looked at both files on screen. Export file shows all lines as black in Adobe Reader and in Apple Preview. Same result for full page view and zoomed views. Print to PDF file in full page view shows diag lines grey in AR and black in Preview. Zoom a bit and all lines show black in both readers. On my screen, black seems more robust in AR than in Preview. Maybe the problem is display or graphics card issue rather than some problem in VW? -B Quote Link to comment
ericjames
That is very interesting, thank you for looking at those files for me. If I figure out exactly what is going on, I will post to let you know Quote Link to comment
