editing a rotated rectangle

an other strange thing...

if i draw an normal rectangle than rotate it by 90 degrees. than try to adjust the horizontal dimensions in the Object Info Palette (first selected the right or left anchor) typing the dimension and than it always reshapes as if one selected the middle anchor.(both sides move from or to the middle)

if you select the bottom anchor it reshapes to the left or the right. It must be something to do with the direction of the rectangle but this is very confusing!

is this by purpose or is this a bug?

Thanks!

While you have rotated the rectangle, the information in the OIP still relates to how the rectangle was originally drawn. This makes less sense for a rectangle rotated 90 degrees, but I think you can see how it would work for something with a lower rotation angle.

In VW2008 SP2 (?) there was a check box added to the OIP labeled Display Width Arrow. When this is checked, you will get a small blue triangle at what is the "lower left" of the object pointing to the "right". This triangle always relates to the lower left button in the OIP.

Hopefully this will help you to figure out how to use the anchors in the OIP. And yes, at this point the behavior you are seeing is by design.

Thanks!

So it is supposed to work that way...hmmm. That means a lot of thinking around first you have to check orientation of the rectangle than you have to figure out which anchor to check. As much as i love the (less than 90 degrees-) rotated rectangle remaining rectangles, but when its rotated 90 degrees it should not swap orientation, (Or the anchor should rotate orientation with the object) because thats bread and butter and you have to deal with it all the time!!

And just thinking of a correction while you zoomed out and didn't see which side the correction went to because you checked the not logical position of an anchor.... this can cause a lot of trouble!
