jfmarch
I have a target file that is referencing 4 photos. They are placed on a sheet layer and have been plotted successfully before. I have opened the file today and the photos are not visible, but are still shown as updated in the nav. palette. Is there a trick to updating them so that they are visible? They are indicated as referenced bitmaps in the OIP. Its a great tool, but are we missing something? Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
Strange, I had to deleted the photos, deleted the references, and re-import them to get them to be able to be seen.... Quote Link to comment
islandmon
Ideally, imported images should occupy a container not be just an annotation ( the bitmap resolution pref. should be set as required ). Import the image into a Layer with the appropriate scale , then link that Layer into the Sheet via Viewport with the resolution set to match the photo. Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
Ok, maybe that was the problem as they are placed directly on the sheet layer. We are having no problems with the resolution and have not altered the size of the photos. We will give that a try. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
You can also import images into a separate file then use WGR to link to them and then use Viewports to link to the Layer. Often this is preferable if you are linking stock images & details or casually to show sites, backgrounds, insitu, etc. Then just delete the WGR link when you are done with it. Thus avoiding filling your File with a bunch of memory hogging bitmaps. Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
We still cannot understand why this is happening- it has occurred again in the same file and the photos cannot be seen, but white boxes are in their place. It does not make sense why this would work better on design layers. Anyone have any other suggestions... Quote Link to comment
doughd
jfmarch, I've had the same problem with a logo bitmap imported and placed on the title block. I don't understand it either. I just had to import it again like you did. Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
I think I will add this to the bug list... Quote Link to comment
