Turn stair into lines (or polys)

sorry if this has been answered already I searched but did not find...

I want to turn my stair PIO into lines or polys (because the stair tool is so clunky I can't get it close to what I want...(better in 2008?))

It seems like you could just convert to group or covert to lines but when I do this the screen shifts, VW seems to be doing something and then the stair is still a stair.

Try using Ungroup.

In a Top/Plan view you will get a set of lines and polys.

In a 3D view, you will get a mesh object for each flight and extrudes for platforms.

Or modify --> convert to group to that you don't have a mess of lines to select. Both should work fine. I don't think there is anything majorly different with the stair tool in VW08

Now when I modify>convert to group on the original stair it just disappears.

However if I dupicate the stair which changes the elevation from 'by layer' to fixed height the convert to group works just fine.

Go figure.
