steneyck
I have imported from LW many times before. Today, when I do it it replaces all instrument types to be "light" upon refreshing. I have checked all mapping and it seems to be fine. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted August 8, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 8, 2007 Double check all your mappings, this is usyally the source of the problem. If it's just one type of instrument, check the Light Info Record attatched to the stmbol def. It may have the wrong information in it. Quote Link to comment
steneyck
Multiple instrument types (infact every one of 200 instruments on plot switch to "light" in instrument type upon refresh instruments) Mapping correct (even opened in outside application to check - all as it should be) Other thoughts? Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted August 8, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 8, 2007 Then it's probably the light info record on the symbols. Someone has entered "Light" in the instrument type rather then the Device Type Field. Quote Link to comment
Rick Martin
That would be the case if you were working with new symbols in this file. If you've been using the symbols in other files and it's been working fine, then it is a mapping problem. Make sure that the terms match, because it can be confusing. Specifically: LW 'instrument type' to VW 'inst type' LW 'device type' to VW 'device type' LW 'instrument type symbol' to VW 'symbol name' I don't know how you could possibly tell if the mapping is correct in an outside application - do you have info on how to translate the info? Here's the text in my mapping file: Import Data Mappings External ID 30 9 8 6 3 11 13 4 5 2 65 7 25 12 14 15 16 17 18 19 1 0 63 35 Quote Link to comment
steneyck
You are correct. Mapping was askew - the mapping I was looking at was for instrument type not devise type or instrument type symbol. After correcting the mapping all seems to be fine. Thanks for the clairification and help. I really appreciate it. Quote Link to comment
