mralistair
How can you tell a symbol NOT to attach itself to a wall when placed on it? it is very irritating. Quote Link to comment
Guest
With the 2D selection tool selected, go to the mode bar. One of the modes will prevent a symbol from being inserted in a wall. It's the 2nd mode (I think it is, at least -- I'm at home today with no VW) called Enabled Wall Insertion Mode The I key on the keyboard will toggle this option on and off when the 2D selection tool is enabled. mralistair
cheers, do i have to do this every time I insert a symbol or can it be done in the original symob definition? Quote Link to comment
Guest
It's a mode that you toggle on and off. It stays off until you turn it on again or restart VW. It's not something you can set in a symbol, it's an application setting. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I have a wishlist item for this capability: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=81085 Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
there are two mode buttons for placing symbols in walls or not. the first mode button is as Katie says on the mode bar for the 2D Selection tool. it's the second mode and you can toggle this on and off using the "i" key on your keyboard. The second mode is when you select the 2D Symbol insertion tool. the 4th button on the mode bar controls whether or not the symbol is inserted in the wall. Again, it's the "i" key that toggles this on or off. Quote Link to comment
