Don@Black Dog
How can I duplicate a window (or any) pio in an array? alt/edit/I only copies, does not set the window into the wall. Thanks Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
If you're going to have more than one instance of a PIO, there's a lot to be said for making it into a symbol. Once it's a symbol, you can use the "Duplicate Symbol in Wall" tool, which may be what you're looking for. Oddly enough, I just found that I had to add the tool using the Workspace editor, even though I have no recollection of ever having removed it... Quote Link to comment
Don@Black Dog
Thanks. I have been avoiding using symbols because it is difficult to change them rapidly during the initial design process (when looking at alternatives) and in using the Data function for schdules or on-sheet window ID. (I can hear the Peter's cryingout in disbelief, but that is my experience). Maybe I am missing something. I would be handy to be able to try a size, array it to look at it and change it and do it again. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
I have been avoiding using symbols because it is difficult to change them rapidly during the initial design process Initially... just stick a bunch of "Dumb Plug Symbols" into the walls. Then when it comes time to fiddle ... just go into Resource Browser>Symbol>edit and copy one of your actual Win/Door symbols and then past the sucker into the "Dumb Plug Symbol". All the symbols then update instantly avoiding the dreaded process of replacing each symbol instance. Repeat as necessary ... Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Islandmon - using symbols versions of of PIOs is the the way I tend to do it as well because it provides quicker changing. The only drawback to symbols is the Associated Dimensions don't 'stick' to them properly. If you change the symbol width the dimensions will not update on the symbol instances, whereas they will on PIO instances. This is a problem that needs to be fixed. Quote Link to comment
